Quick question....

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 2:41 am

I made an icon for an enchanted ring, the icon is fine, BUT... The ring is enchanted, so I have the icon inside a black square with the blue swirl going around the outside.

How do I make this stop?

What's the question?

All enchanted items have the blue swirl added to the icon.

Wow, just.... Wow.

Please read the post. Have you EVER downloaded a mod where the enchanted icons had a black box with the icon inside, and the blue swirls only around the edge?

EDIT
I just found out I need to make the outline transparent.

Your certainty that the icon was working correctly, followed by a vague description of the problem, just had me picturing a normal icon.

Your second description of the icon actually makes sense though, as you better explained how the enchanted swirl itself has a black square on it.

Anyways, glad you got it sorted out.
I learned to make icons from http://members.shaw.ca/gdicanada/Downloads/IconMadness.pdf. In case you haven't seen this one, it's helpful in ensuring you don't miss any steps.

I'm sorry for my previous post, I thought a saw hostility in yours, but I guess it's kind of hard to read emotions over the internet lol.
Yeah I guess my description wasn't good enough.

Thanks for the help, but it's pretty simple now. It took me a while, I didn't know it had to be saved as a 32bit to support tranparency. But now I know how.

P.S. Do you like LotR?

You need to create an Alpha channel to designate what areas of the Icon are to be transparent. Otherwise the game sees only a sold square icon with no shape to it.

Edit...just realize you said above that you discovered this lol...oh well.
