Quicksave on Consoles

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 7:18 am

I know this is no concern for the PC players out there, but us console players should have some feature for a game like fallout. Especially if you are killed and you didn't save or anything before hand because it took too long, especially on old gen consoles, it is completely frustrating! You could possibly use the Touch Pad on PS4 maybe? Swipe up for save, down for Load maybe??

I imagine there will still be some sort of autosave feature. But other than that I suspect we're going have to do it the long winded way.

Oh, and hi all :wavey:

usually it autosaves when you fast travel, sleep. Or at least it did that in FO3 & New Vegas regardless of which platform you were using.

I play on PC and I only make full saves. Back in the Morrowind days using quicksaves could occasionally corrupt a game. I also have auto-saves turned off in all of Bethesda's games for the same reason. It may not happen as much these days, but I like to be on the safe side.

It might be a bit of a stretch but the kinect is a powerful piece of kit when it comes to voice recognition? So "Xbox quick save"?

To all the other guys,
About the waiting and going to new areas it auto saves and stuff, I personally would appreciate something quick that doesn't break the immersion. But that's just me!

Couldnt they make it auto save by pressing all the trigger and shoulder buttons at the same time?

Auto load who cares, leave that the old fashion way. Auto saving ia much more important imho. I play on pc fyi.

Can you not use voice recognition with a headset? Majority would use that?

I just had it auto save when I entered new cells, or waited, or fast traveled.

Wait for an in-game hour, boom, quick save.

Or I'd take the fifteen seconds it would take to save my progress, which is about what it'd take on console, or less. Seconds on the dime.

And unless there is voice recognition software on the XBOXone or PS4 for headsets, no there is not, and I doubt they would implement the flashware just for a single games or a niche need like quick saving...

There is quick save on console just do like your about to wait an hour and press the (confirm button on your console of choice) then keep tapping the cancel button before it actually waits an hour and there you go you just quick saved and you didnt even have to waist an entire hour of your characters time this works in skyrim oblivion and maybe morrowind too its been a while also fallout 3 and nv.

This might be a thing but I doubt it, it'll probably be 5 autosaves this time If we go with past history.

I don't care that much. I save my game constantly so I'm not too bothered with auto save.

Welcome to the forums! :vaultboy:

Think this was if the game crashed while saving, Oblivion and later uses an fail safe method. It saves to an temporary file, after its done it deletes quicksave.ess and renames temp to quicksave.ess. All saves will use the same save function, it makes zero sense to make multiple versions of it.

One fun thing about autosaves in Skyrim at least is that the content behind the load door is created after the save is done. If you get killed by something on the other side it might be something totally different the next time.
