I enjoyed playing Oblivion, and also enjoyed FO3. Thus far, I am enjoying Skyrim. Like anything, there are some things it does better than Oblivion (companions/relationships) , and there are aspects of Oblivion (custom spellmaking) that I prefer. One thing I learned playing about 800 hours in Oblivion was not to rush. If you become arch-mage, or champion of cyrodil too quickly, your character will no longer be interested in the many side quests and simple activities that add depth to your experience. Once I entered the college of Winterhold, and found myself in the arch-mages quarters taking orders from him directly after my 2nd quest, I decided to slow down. After about 40 hrs, I am only a level 12 and thane of whiterun. I have only done about 5 MQ to understand the scope, and spawn the dragons and other elements of the game. My character travels with Lydia, dungeon dives; done about 23 misc tasks; gets a good look at all the honeys before marrying (love Senna/Priestess Dibella) . I havent completed any of the guild quests, because I think it will make my character complacent, and uninterested in the smaller tasks. I will probably only do one guild line per character. I only have 1 home/whiterun thus far. I am taking my time, earning and saving for either Markarth or Solitude next. As someone else mentioned, the books are awesome and add depth to the playing experience. In short, I have no idea how you could be "finished." I do know that if I ignored everything else, and only did the MQ, then went on to to the guild quests sucessively, I would also be ready to quit playing. I dont enjoy playing TES games that way. I still have unfinished business in Cyrodil for several of my Oblivion characters. With the hundreds of quests/dungeons puzzles in Skyrim, I can envision playing it to the same extent. I am only hoping for custom spellmaking and some depth to the marriage feature to make it more complete for me personally. Other than that, I will be playing FO3, Oblivion and Skyrim for some time to come. I think Beth does an excellent job with value and replayability, if you choose to approach it that way. If you just want to "complete it", then move on, that is possible as well. It is the preference of the player. At least, Beth normally gives you a choice.
