Quit playing Skyrim...And started playing FNV again

Why does everyone use the excuse "well they brought back a dead franchise"

Sorry but Bethesda wasn't the only dev bidding on Fallout.
Because Bethesda was the one willing to pay the most for it. Ergo they are technically the ones who 'brought back a dead franchise'. Same applies had it been Valve or, God forbid, EA.

and dodgy lore is a large understatement. the whole game is a giant contradiction.
Fallout Fallout 2, and New Vegas have dodgy lore as well. As for 3, I fail to see any real contradictive lore, just vague lore. And the FEV in 87 arguement is pure speculation, it was a miltary controlled Vault, maybe they were testing it before the orders went to Mariposa, anyway, it's 4:30 in the morning, don't care to argue vague lore.

and I didn't literally mean "baby", its just a figure of speech.
Nor did Fern, just because he makes a salient point doesnt mean you can just try and say 'Nuh uh, you cant say it like that!' When you started it.

BETHESDA DOESN'T CLAIM TO BE THE BEST WRITER IN WHITERUN, THEY ONLY ASK FOR A FAIR CHANCE.

That was a clever referance there but...

They had 3 chances to prove that since Morrowind, they have failed.

@ Colonel Martyr

How could Fallout 1 have dodgy lore? It created the lore.

and he didn't make a good point, he is trying to justify Bethesda isolating Fallout fans in favor of TeS fans, and there is no justifying that as a Fallout fan, it feels like a big middle finger to anyone who liked Fallout 1 and 2.

Does not excuse Bethesda lack of respect for Fallout lore and Fallout fans.

and you cant compare making a game in an existing franchise to raising a child.
get over it, your anti bethesda rhetoric is getting old.

I am one of those middle children :sadvaultboy:
I don't cry out 'FALLOUT 3 WAS T3H ILOGCAL!', I say, 'You know, Fallout 3 would have been better here if they had added some lore into this location', nor do I go 'FALUT SUX, DEM GRAFUCS IS OLD'. I am not a picky graphics person, I enjoy games for what they are and etc. The people who refuse to really play Fallout and Fallout 2 because of graphics are REALLY missing out on just as delightful an experience as Fallout 3 and New Vegas are.
I think my problem is, when it comes to video games, my standards are SOMEWHAT adjustable. Although after playing F:NV, I find going back to Fallout 3 to be very hard for me, compared to New Vegas, I always feel like I have nothing to do, and I miss the random streetlights that NV has :(
I'm in the same boat, the old games are great and so are the new ones but in the transition some things had to be left out so that the modern gamer could easily enjoy and fit in to the scenario.
I don't know anyone/thing that has created their 1st game and it has been the self proclaimed lord of perfection, because like anything it has to find it's feet before it begins to walk. Fallout 2 was better than Fallout 1, Fallout: New Vegas is better than Fallout 3. To expect perfection on the first hit is daft.

There might have been other bidder but those other bidders lost so they didn't bring it back from the dead. Bethesda won and they brought it back, deal with it.
I want to see every contradiction....

What? Lol I don't even know TES at all so I have no reason to defend it.
You're just starting to throw [censored] on the fire hoping it'll burn brighter.....

I think the biggest crime is that Skyrim's Sheogorath doesn't even wield a cane.

Sounds like you're a bit to extreme on the 'conserved' side. Things have to be compromised, granted Fallout 3 took it's liberties, at least Bethesda was trying to spin something of their own, had they just copy pasted everything to the letter, old fans would gripe how they didnt make their own content.

As for F1 and lore, I can't remember, something was bugging me a day or two ago when I got back from The Glow, something about something being to 'convenient' to the point of poorly done writing. Again, to tired to think that hard over it.

@Longknife- I think the biggest crime in New Vegas is that there isn't cheese for everyone, nor raining dog corpses.

New Vegas is fine, but I fear for FO4.
I'm sorry but there's not much reason to be confident in Bethesda's writers at this point. Poison Mushroom-driven slave labor because while you sympathize with their plight you have this paranoid unexplainable fear that they will double-cross you after you save their lives. 'Nuff said.

I stopped playing Skyrim due to its buggy crazy shoddy frame rate antics. So....

I picked up FONV this weekend (2nd time) for a fiver from Gamestation - I still had my original installation and save files for this big event. I quit playing about a year ago because of bugs and such a shoddy framerate. I waited it out until Sunday to finally put New Vegas back in my PS3.

The wasteland loaded and.... still choppy. Even after over 230MB of patch downloaded and installed.

I'm going to start a new save game and see how far I can get in the questline before trying Skyrim's 1.4.

If 1.4 is the performance holy grail (PC users are reporting 50-100% frame rate increases), I believe they should roll out these mods to the PS3 version of FO3 and FONV so that they finally play well.

It's not like we don't deserve it, I even upgraded my PC into a decent gaming rig so I could enjoy FO3 GOTY properly (first time I have ever done this).

C'mon Beth. Sort it.

I don't like the dinosaurs for their blind nostalgia

What's the basis for that claim? Blind how, and nostalgic over... yesterday (or in the best situation, over few minutes ago)?

Perhaps I use the word rather loosely. The more accurate term is that both the factions, the 'new' group and 'old' group are so obsessed with their side that they can't budge for one bloody second. Seriously, the 'Dinosaurs' as they call themselves, are the stubborn old men who can't accept that their time in the spotlight has come and gone, they've had their day.

C'mon, don't make these broad generalizations. The only gripe I have with F3 is the plot and writing. No one here claims that F3 is the spawn of Satan *facepalm*

Let me close for clean-up (maybe). But I have to head to work, so it will wait a while.

@KyleM - if you don't like the games, don't like Bethesda... why are you posting regularly? It's not like your posts in this thread were intended as constructive feedback.

Yeah, I will just leave this closed.
