[Relz] Race Balancing Project

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 5:59 am

okay :) Thank you for heads up!

So, I should just re-download the installation files? Or was there any updates to meshes/textures and the rest?

Only the main files. Installation files (textures, meshes, etc) were not changed :).

I've uploaded a very small update.

Again it's mostly the LAMEAdditions file (for a few I saw why the NPCs didn't attacked by themselves, but for others... I don't have any clue).

Additionally I've changed the Daedra Seducer's greater power names, so they're grouped together even if later added powers are gained (SI, I'm looking at you!).

Thanks for that!
I'd only met the one boss who didn't attack me, the others I have met all make enthusiastic attempts to gut me on sight. :ahhh:

Really irritating weird problem here.

With the custom races I can select all the eyes and hairs and such like that is set in the RBP esp; but with the vanilla races I cant.

My breton character that I just created for example I could only select the set vanilla hairstyles and eyes and none of the custom modded ones.

Any ideas why I cant pick any of the good hairstyles or fun eyes for my Breton?

C5 TFF_Races_Base.esp <- load BEFORE RBP, use Bash's Import Race function or tes4edit to make it's changes to races.

First of all: Thanks for the great mods, using all of them (RBP, LAME, Stranded Light) :)

And now the question: Is there a way to see, if the PCB-Function included in RBP is active? I remember activating it some time ago, but since i?ve ( once again) installed Streamline, it seems wise to use the Streamline-Function for buffer-purging.

Problem is, i?m not sure if i?ve deactivated it or if the command "startquest bgbpcb" is a toggle-command at all (uhm...sorry ?bout my english)
Anyway, i?m sure you know what i mean... :embarrass:

So, if anybody has an answer to this, please let me know.

Thanks

Jazzable

stopquest bgbpcb ;).

(To see if it is active you can use getquestrunning bgpcb. This will either print out 0 [not active] or 1 [active]. But simply using the command above is easier, because after that it's stopped ;).)

Hi, I've been using this mod for ages and I love it.

I'm not sure if it's considered "finished" at this stage or whether you are still developing it further however I had an idea that I thought would improve it greatly.

With regard to adding in new custom races, a great option would be to be able to simply access an in-game menu and select one of the default races and have those stats applied.

I say this because there are a number of mods which add new "races" which are just bearded/scarred/tattooed etc versions of the default races. Waalx Creatures and Animals for example introduces dozens of new races which are just nords, bretons etc with a variety of beards. Rather than have to create a new .esp and manually alter each of these to reflect the RBP versions of nords, bretons it would be much easier to create a "light brown bushy bearded Breton" character (or whatever), then once in game (in the sewer tunnel, or on the ship if you use alternative start) a menu pops up asking "what race are you?" or similar and you would simply select "Breton". RBP would then apply the stat changes lesser/greater powers as though you were a regular Breton.

This would also be a great time saver for other more exotic races, for players who are not very technically capable, or aren't too bothered about custom balancing their new race. They could just choose the race that they felt was the closest. So if you play a new half-ogre race for example, you might choose orc on the menu.

I'm not sure how practical this would be to implement as I'm not a scripter. I hope you find the idea useful anyway.

Thanks again for a great mod.

Agreed :).

(I'm still wondering what Bethesda was thinking...)

Easily doable, but there is one problem: I cannot remove non-Vanilla spells, therefore this would only be useable by adapted Vanilla races who still use Vanilla spells.

I guess they're the minority, so I am not sure if an option like this wouldn't cause more confusion and problems than help?

I'm not sure, it would depend on how much work implementing this into RBP is for you. For me personally it would be a huge benefit as the only custom races I use are bearded variations of vanilla ones. (playable Sheogorath beards and the WAC races etc). These are completely the same as the vanilla races except for the different head meshes.

All in I probably have about 30 or more of these bearded custom races and updating all of them in the CS into a new .esp takes a long time. I was thinking while doing that how much easier it would have been if there was a menu system, or a simple way to make RBP default to a base race set-up.

Perhaps you can run a "detect facial-hair" script when RBP initializes! :hehe:

I guess the menu could only be accessible as an option by using a startquest in the console. That would avoid people being faced with a possibly confusing option at creation.

I think a lot of people will be using WAC as a core mod like the FCOM components are now, at least once it reaches a more complete stage, so this would be a useful compatibility feature. It's a matter of balancing how much time this would take you to implement against how much time it takes to create a new RBPcustom.esp. I'm not much of a modder myself (and I can't script at all) so I don't know whether it's practical or not.

Thanks for taking the time to read my suggestions anyway. Keep up the great work on this and your other mods! I use almost all of them.

I forgot the fix for the compatibility problem with nGCD again. It had something to do with an Encumbrance or Endurance GMST I believe. Does someone know/remember, or is this now irrelevant?

Both RBP and LAME, thank you! (And what I've seen from Integration so far, haven't seen much yet though)

Question about LAME: is summon imp vanilla or from that mod?

I'm having a problem with the Daedra Seducer. It's invisible. When I choose her race in the race menu, I get a strange zoom from Valen Dreth's Cell, and I don't get the normal race. I just see a person with pink arms, that doesn't look like a daedra seducer.

You've switched from Cobl Races over to RBP. Cobl Races is based on 9.2, therefore all resources added later are missing. You need RBP's installation files therefore.

Sorry, I don't realy get what you're saying. I just installed RBP with BAIN, and I removed Cobl Races. Should I remove the Cobl Cosmetics pack too?

RBP's download has two parts - main files and installation files. You've very likely forgot the installation files ;).

bg,

I'm really interested in RBP but in your FAQ you mention that with other languages (such as Spanish, which is my version) the NPCs will be mute. Can you point me in the right direction with regards to translating your mod to Spanish? I wouldn't need a full translation (I like the fact that many things will be in English, the Spanish version is atrocious for me, because I don't even speak Spanish, I speak Portuguese!).

I suppose I'd only need to translate the names of the races so that the game knows where to look for the correct sound files. But any help would be great.

Thanks in advance.

I think in -english-, the NPCs are mute. Did it mean the 2 second unreadable-dialouge thingy when a voice file isn't found? Frankly, it's easier to install elys's universal silent voice and get it over with :P

No, I'm pretty sure that almost all the NPCs will be mute, because the mod changes races and is based on an english version of the game, which means that when the game looks for the voice files for the Redguard, it won't find them, because in Spanish the Redguard was translated as "Guarda rojo". And I already have USV, but I'd rather play with talking characters than have USV working for 75% of all the conversations I'll have in the game.
