Aaah, sorry, I misunderstood. Yes, you need to translate race names, but they're not all in the same format, iirc :/

Looks like a great comprehensive concept, and I'm quite interested in trying it, but I'm curious about something. If I want to use a RBP Khajiit, but with a different texture, without changing every Khajiit in the game, can that be done? I'm not sure if I should be posting here or scrubbing through Wrye Bash more closely (still new to me), or if I could just edit a copied Khajiit race in RBP with the texture paths I want, without it screwing anything else up.

Any texture changes will affect the entire race. You'd need to make a Race that uses the Khajiit Meshes but uses different Textures.

I'm really interested in RBP but in your FAQ you mention that with other languages (such as Spanish, which is my version) the NPCs will be mute. Can you point me in the right direction with regards to translating your mod to Spanish? I wouldn't need a full translation (I like the fact that many things will be in English, the Spanish version is atrocious for me, because I don't even speak Spanish, I speak Portuguese!).

I suppose I'd only need to translate the names of the races so that the game knows where to look for the correct sound files. But any help would be great.

RBP's download has two parts - main files and installation files. You've very likely forgot the installation files ;).



Aaahhhhh, that's the problem. I hadn't seen that I had to download installation files too :) Thanks for helping me Bg!

Just one more question: the voice definition is the "VNAM - Voice" record? It is the same both in the Oblivion.esm and in RBP: NULL - Null Reference [00000000]

Uh? Shouldn't be that way, I think... In my esp (frenchified version), it's set to 00000907 (Imperial). Anyway, you don't risk anything if you give it a try in-game: you'll see quickly if NPCs have their voices allright or not, and will still be able to adjust the esp to your needs.

EDIT: looks like it's normal for some races to have "no" voices specified, though, I guess this directs them to some default. Adjusting your RBP to the same definitions than Oblivion.esm is most certainly the right thing... Sorry, I'm not very sure of my advice, here :s Always be a bit confused with this voices/ filepaths system...

How could i transfer my save game (using mystic elf from rens beauty pack) to race balancing project? I'd like to keep my characters face. I tried with wry bash before, but its not work properly, because i cant use any RBG hair.

Yay! The fix suggested by bg worked fine, now all the NPCs have voices again.

But I have a new problem: the old Mystic Emporium bug is back. I suppose that the load order is important in this case, and if I move the main esp up on the list, so that it loads before the UOP and the UOMPs things will get back on track again. Am I right?

len, change your race to a hidden elf (Same race, different name), using the keep-open the console and save trick, then use bash's import faces to import your old face, and run the update quest.

Well, unfortunately changing the load order in an attempt to avoid the Mystic Emporium bug didn't work. TNR used to have this problem, but it was fixed when I bashed it. I suppose I'm doing something wrong in the bash department. Right now I've bashed the "bgBalancingEVOptionalNPCDiversity, TNR Merge.esp" - I figured this is the correct esp, since I use TNR. The other two files -- "bgBalancingEVOptionalNPCDiversity, Beautification.esp" and "bgBalancingEVOptionalNPCDiversity, for Wrye Bash.esp" -- were not included in the bashed patch and are currently not selected.

Could anyone help? :unsure:

EDIT: Well, problem solved. Apparently I forgot to deactivate the TNR Merge esp file when I bashed it; I deactivated it and tested with a new game, everything is fine so far.

Now that I think about it, it would be very interesting to have a website like http://www.linklost.com/occ/ but using RBP values and settings. :rock:

Hm. Interesting. Just keep Oblivion.esm's setting.

Background: In some translations (e.g. French, German) male Bretons use the Imperial Voice Set. In others (e.g. English) they've got their own voice set.

If in tes4edit "NULL" appears, a race has it's own voice set.

And that's the only mystery :).

Hey bg, I stumbled across this file the other day: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23215. As the name says, it's a replacer that makes Ren's Mystic Elves compatible with Robert's female. Works great - I just checked it out. No more mystic elves with two sets of boobs and genitalia! You might want to consider including it with the other Robert's support files; anyone who uses Robert's should DL it in any case.

I will not go again on permission hunt. I've tried several times to get body mod textures for all races already, and failed (mostly due to authors not responding). The linked mod is not free to use, therefore I won't include it - and I had enough of permission hunts for a lifetime :(.

If someone else would be willing to hunt for permissions, this would be very welcome :).

I don't know if this has been mentioned - I haven't read the entire thread since I'm not having any problems.
You edited the main post, indicating only the lame addition has an update since the latest release.
A suggestion: Why not just make the single esp available instead of re-downloading the entire main files?
I know it's not very big, but there are lots of users on dial-up.

You may go as far as every race has a different start instead of the jail cell thing, and a different backstory :)


You could always download some of the various alternative start mods.

I only use one, which makes it available for me to choose the background for my character while in the cabin of a ship (A bit like morrowind) and if I want my character to be jailed I can just disable it.

The name of the mod I use is simply: Alternative start

Or you can just search for alternative start at TESnexus or google it.

Hello again, again I have a problem. The only eyes that I can choose are Blind Eyes, for every race. I used Wrye Bash to merge the mods into the bashed patch.

Something apparently went wrong, obviously, but it's a bit hard to guess what it could be. Post your load order so we might be able to get a helpfull clue for you.

(EDIT: in case you didn't know how already: under Wrye Bash, right click on the column's header ("file", "load order", "group", whatever) and click "List mods" in the contextual menu - you can copy-paste this ;) )

EDIT: Not all my races have this problem, but most of them do. All of the elfs have blind eyes, redguards, nords and bretons.

Fantastic mod m8! Seeing all of the fresh faces was a welcome change. However, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one have eye troubles :P The ones for character gen work just fine. Upon upgrading to 10.5, a lot of NPCs have cloudy, colorful eyes. Like they are off-center or have missing textures. I used the updated files, and when I discovered the bug, I installed the full 10.5 package, just in case. Possibly have something to do w/ the new optional meshes/textures for Capucines Eyes? One thing I noticed is that a lot of the optional plugins have the NoMerge Bash tag. Do these have to be checked off, or can be left as virtually active? In any case, keep up the good work m8 :)

Eye issues:
- if you've got googly eyes (e.g. "four eyes" per eye), then install the installation files again and load RBP (a lot) later. If you've got anything in the direction of Beautiful People running, uncheck it, and remove all it's tags, after that rebuild your bashed patch.
- if you can't change eyes and hairs, you suffer from a faulty playable custom race (one without playable hair / eyes choices). Use tes4edit to find out which.
- if only the default eyes, or something similar, is available, another mod has overwritten RBP. Load RBP later.
- if only limited parts of the default eyes are available, either another mod messed it up, or something went horribly wrong with the Race Record function of Bash. If so, try to rebuild the bashed patch without it enabled. If it goes away then, post in the Wrye Bash release thread. If not, please use tes4edit to find out which race loaded after RBP is modifying races.

One thing I noticed is that a lot of the optional plugins have the NoMerge Bash tag. Do these have to be checked off, or can be left as virtually active?
That means that they should neither be activated, nor merged in. They are to be used with the "Import..." functions :).

I appreciate the response m8 :) However, I used BOSS for most of my load order, and only some minor tweaking for other stuff. EVCore and the optional files are as far down the list as possible (the core file is # BD). My NPCs don't exactly have 4 eyes, but pretty close; http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg204/Immortal-D/ScreenShot2.jpg,http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg204/Immortal-D/ScreenShot1.jpg I downloaded the full 10.5 installation files package as well. The only other mod that comes close is Cyrodiil NPC Remodelling Project. And so far as I know, that only modifies clothing, not the bodies. If you have any other suggestions, I'd love to hear it, lol.

Eye issues:
- if you've got googly eyes (e.g. "four eyes" per eye), then install the installation files again and load RBP (a lot) later. If you've got anything in the direction of Beautiful People running, uncheck it, and remove all it's tags, after that rebuild your bashed patch.
- if you can't change eyes and hairs, you suffer from a faulty playable custom race (one without playable hair / eyes choices). Use tes4edit to find out which.
- if only the default eyes, or something similar, is available, another mod has overwritten RBP. Load RBP later.
- if only limited parts of the default eyes are available, either another mod messed it up, or something went horribly wrong with the Race Record function of Bash. If so, try to rebuild the bashed patch without it enabled. If it goes away then, post in the Wrye Bash release thread. If not, please use tes4edit to find out which race loaded after RBP is modifying races.

That means that they should neither be activated, nor merged in. They are to be used with the "Import..." functions :).


My problem is that I've got only one type of eyes, and not for all races. I have installed the alternative NPC faces by Crazymonk.

I'm not good with TES4EDIT, I don't know anything about it. Could you help me a bit?
