Race of a Emperor?

Post » Wed Dec 11, 2013 7:18 pm

Hello! Me and my friend are in the middle of an RP that's set aroundish 20 years ahead of the Skyrim timeline, pretty much taking creative freedoms and what not. However one question did come to play, does the race of the emperor matter? We have it that Mede did get assassinated, and the Thalmor, for the most part, disbanded, forcefully.

A silly question I know, but say, would the people be accepting of a Argonian/Orc/Altmer, ect, emperor? Could they do what Titus did and take control of the crown?

I'm actually really curious on this, never really posted in these forums, to my knowledge the emperors have been Imperial/Nord.

I believe some emperors have been Breton and Dunmer at one point if my lore is correct (not sure if it was during the Third Empire?).

The has been a Dunmer Empress. Im not too sure about whether or not there have been any Breton rulers. Given the time of the game, I hightly doubt any Mer or Betmer ruler would be accepted.

Uh.... What?

As far as I understand it, their RP takes place 20 years after Skyrim and someone roflstomped the Thalmor by then.

Hey, who am I to judge? Maybe it was executed brilliantly.

But, OP, remember this statement by a former developer (and the guy who came up with the Thalmor in the first place):

Which is a weird quote since it's not like they are immortal. Living long long lives doesn't really equal to eternity.

Well, it's a very hopeful scenario, but that's your business. On your question, I would say while there is no "constitutional" barrier to foreign emperors, the odds would be overwhelmingly in favour of an Imperial or Nord. There have been non-Imperial (and even non-human) emperors, but I think in what would be quite a fragile, suspicious, reconstructive phase in the Empire's history, people would most happily stick with what they know.
