Ok so im about to start my First ever Orc (i usually dont touch them due to their honor code restricting play so much)

whe i realised i have no idea how long an Orc Lived further more i realised i didnt know what the average lifespanb for any race was (excluding magicial life extension)

so what is the average life span for the races in TES? without magic extending their lives?

I believe Nords and Orcs are cursed with shorter-than-usual lives. The story goes that some god (I can't remember) cursed the nords by taking away their lifespan. Apparently, it got to the point where Nords only lived 6 years. However, another god (Arkay?) lifted some of the curse off the nords and placed it on the local orcs (whether it was a specific tribe or the race as a whole, I don't know)

Elves generally have a longer lifespan the humans. Indeed, Divayth Fyr was celebrating a happy 4000th birthday in Morrowind, IIRC. Of course, he it's likely that he heavily extended his life with magic. In the same vein, Elven birth rates are generally lower than Humans.

I believe the Septims often lived to be 100-110 before expiring of natural causes (if that is how they died). I'd guess that Imperials live to be about 100 or so.

Other than that, I have nothing.

To fill out Riddle's reply, it was Orkey, the Nordic equivalent of Arkay, who cursed the Nords. Cursed them all the way down to six years old, as the legend goes. Then Wulfharth called upon Shor who removed the curse and threw it upon the Orcs. Its been estimated by some that Orcs only live 40 or 50 years, But I think they're probably roughly equivalent to humankind, given that as elves, they had a longer lifespan to lose.

Correction:

Orkey summoned the ghost of Alduin Time-Eater, and then Alduin ate the nords down to six years old. Wulfharth pleaded with Shor for help, and Shor fought the ghost of Alduin Time-Eater and won, causing Orkey's people ( the orcs) to be ruined. Wulfharth then turns the Nords back to normal with a thu'um he learns from watching Shor and Alduin fight, but dies because he shook too many years out of himself.

Barenziah.

Not to say you are WRONG, just to say that straight-up saying 120-130 and then leaving it at that is a bit incomplete. I would say anything from 100 - 800 years is plausible for a Dunmer to live, unless they happen to be a certain magician by the name of Fyr, or should you happen to be the Nerevarine. 100 years for someone like an ashlander, 800 for a powerful wizard or an aristocrat.

There is some evidence to support that arcane knowledge extends the lifespan.
Janus Hassildor's long life was accredited to that, he was happy to let the people of Skingrad believe that, to hide he was a vampire.
There is Divayth and the whole Telvanni council for that matter. (Although it doesnt always seem to be succesful as in the case of Therana.)

If magical practice and knowledge can extend the life, surely people of wealth and influence can afford good healers and other aids to keep them fit beyond their natural span, as I believe is the case with Barenziah.

In short, the average peasant Dunmer may live 100-120 years, lifetime of toiling and all that, but an upper class lady of leisure has less environmental stress firstly and can afford the best care secondly.

Indeed I pressed your link and I read it, I was also a bit puzzled as to why you decided to post "120-130" instead of "120-200+", which is what the link says.

The environment of Morrowind, and especially Vvardenfell, may have a lot to do with the short life spans of the Dunmer. Ash storms and such is probably not that very good for your health. I wonder if Azura′s curse was more than just changing the colour of their skin, and making their eyes red... Because, lets face it, becoming grey and getting red eyes together with your entire people is not that much of a curse on its own.

We elves need to fix this 'issue'....and fast. :hugs:
