Race Specific Run Animations

I'm wondering if:

A) each race will have different base model for they're bodies (likely)

B.) the movement animations will differ from race to race.

C) if it can be defined enough to be able to tell a race from a long distance off... by their unique silhouettes so to speak...


It would be awesome if orcs were more lumbering, wood elves were more prancy, and kajits tails movement changed depending on it's enviroment IE wagging if calm, fuzzy when threatened.
It would be great if it applied to walking/running as well as crouch/sneak... For example a kajit assassin would wag it's tail like a stalking panther crawling on all fours up to it's prey.
Argonians should be fatter. More toad-like.

Thoughts?

It would be awesome, but unlikely. For now different skeletons for male and female models is the tops of my hope list. But I support your idea wholeheartedly!
Except for argonians being toad like - they are lizards, not toads, but they should swim really great.

I agree with your statements about the beast races' tails. I'm hoping that Argonians and Khajit will be digitigrade instead of plantigrade in Skyrim, which would obviously affect gait.

My guess is a dynamic system depending on the overall modifications you do to your base physique in the character creator. A lighter more nimble gait, or a stoic imposing wall of mass.

I will say that Males and Females should get different animations but I wouldn't prioritize run animation since this is a 1st person dominated game. I would rather they get the game right as in less bugs and glitches then say run animation.

Argonians would have to pitch forward with a tail when they run, because of the change in center of gravity. In order for it to look more natural with the speed of a sprint they would have to extend the ankle to the toes a bit. Am I totally wrong or did Khajits have unique animations in Morrowind!?!

But running is something that you see all the time and it's not just yourself that you can see run.

Agreed. Although, I don't think Argonians should be toad-like; I enjoy playing as them because they're the awesome looking lizard/dragon looking fellows.

So I was right. They did have unique animations in Morrowind. Yeah, now that I think of it, it was like they were walking bow-legged or something. I just hope they have tails this time around!

I'm just hoping for separate animations for male/female and for beast races male/female. Hopefully they won't walk/run like they did in Morrowind, like they had a full diaper. Or like they did in Oblivion. Which was identical to every other race.

I hope that Khajiit and Argonians get seperate animations, but for all other races to have distinct animations would seem to be more trouble than we can expect. And I can live with other races having the same animations, but Khajiit and Argonians using the same animations as all other races just makes them feel too similar to elves and humans.

They had tails in Oblivion too, actually, I think the only game they didn't have tails in was Arena.

Indeed they shouldn't, Argonians are supposed to be like lizards, they always have been, why should they look like toads? If you want a toad-like race in your game, then you should make one to fulfill that role, not change a race that has never looked like toads before into toads. Though I don't know of any currently non-playable races in lore that resemble toads that might be eligable for promotion to playable status.
