i read in a book from morrowind that the dwemer were utterly destroyed by the gods because of there abomination of technology

That is one theory.

RACIST! What have Khajiiti or Argonians ever done to you?

I bet you play as a Dunmer, too.

Yep. Dunmer FTW!!!!

Well if they add those races you could create your own vixen using all the character features for but still I would love to see the new races I mentioned but if they don't I will still go with the Khajiit mainly cause I love the stealth abilities but that is just me.

They may have existed but seem to have vanished:

In additional to the reptilian Argonians, who are today Black Marsh's most visible denizen, there were once tribes of men - Kothringi, Orma, Yespest, Horwalli - and tribes of mer - the Barsaebic Ayleids and the Cantemiric Velothi - and even a tribe who may have been related to the Khajiit of Elsweyr, the vulpine Lilmothiit. Some were sent to Black Marsh as refugees of prisoners, other settled along the coastal waterways and adapted to its strange and usually insalubrious environment.

The cities of Stormhold and Gideon were originally founded by the Ayleids (their Ayleid names are unknown), but were so far removed from their culture in the heartland that they never were attacked by the Alessian army when it rose in revolt. The southern coastal regions, not surprisingly, were the realms of the Lilmothiit, though they were a nomadic group and left few enduring signs of their existence that were not covered up by later civilizations. The Balck Marsh elves settled in the eastern regions near present-day Archon, Arnesia, and Thorn

I'm guessing if any still survive they're not living in Lilmoth. If they ever did make a game set in the past they could probably come up with a whole game's worth of 10 races without duplicating any of the current ones what with all the dead, vanished, and transformed ones they've mentioned.

well there's the Maormer (sea elves) that used to live on summerset isles, but were exiled to pyandonea.
then there's the Imga, a race of quite civilized Ape men from Valenwood.

But the fact is, we can't predict if that keep the same 10 races, or if they substitute any new ones in. There's an almost 200 year gap in lore that we don't know about, so you never know.
I mean its definitely plausible to think that maybe Argonian's aren't playable. That's just an example, (dont freak out at me) but last we know, the Argonian's ceced from the Empire and invaded Morrowind. If we're supposed to be working with the Blades (who last time i checked were pretty adamant about preserving the Empire) , why would we be able to be part of a race that hates the empire? Again, just an example, food for thought.

until we get more information on the time between the infernal city and skyrim, we have no way of knowing.

come to think of it, what would khajiits and argonians, who come from desert and swamp terrain respectively, be doing in a place as sigificantly different from their homelands as Skyrim? not that I think they should change the 10 playable races, but i would appreciate some sort of explenation...

Well, they probably will not add another race or change the default 10, with the possible exception of the Falmer but...
What about Subtypes and such!
Argonian subraces, like the Agacephs, Paatru, and Sarpa?
Kahiit Subraces, like the Ohmes, Cathay, and Tojay?
No one has ever mentioned ones like that...

No No No No NOOOOOOOO........we need at least one new race, I don't care if they take one out, or two,
heck cut Kajiit and Argonian, I never play lower races anyway.....and for that matter cut Imperials and
Bretons, one human race is enough....just give me one new race.....even if it's Na'vi

The beast race's are staying and Breton's are half-mer, half-men.

And to guy above me, I'm pretty sure Atmora is un-inhabitable due to the cold.

Dwarves have been dead forever and it is the same 10 from Oblivion.

well dragons have been dead forever too, and look where we are now. THE REVIVAL OF THE DWARVES! Just joking :P I'm not a big fan of dwarves at all, I've hated dwarves actually since one killed me in runescape and I lost my mithral armor and black dagger, lol ages ago. Elves are my favorite, I hope they don't look as dumb as they did in oblivion then, which I think with the improved editor they shouldn't be.

I think the 10 already playable races are fine. Enough variety there for me.
ya know what really pisses me off is that you can't play as the coolest race of all ''dremora'' and even better yet a lich dremora, that would be sweet.

Why would you want to play as someone who on halloween, got something caught in their throat, and haven't gotten it out since?

. There's an almost 200 year gap in lore that we don't know about, so you never know.

Not all Argonians want to secede from the empire. There are still plenty living in Cyrodiil, and why shouldn't they be in Skyrim?

Using that logic, you could ask what people from the Middle East and Spain and Italy are doing in Canada.
Theres plenty of reasons why they would be there, and I'm sure Khajiit at least have plenty of protection from the cold

No. No they shouldn't.

I think the problem of adding a new race is a question of it not fitting in well with the lore.

im just saying that until we know more about the 200 year gap, we can't know if new races are possible or not possible. the argonian thing is just an example

Remove furry-bait races and add in some kind of tentacled octopus race. Yeah, I think that'd keep those weirdos away.

I figured humans, as i never play one of those :yuck:

Well, an anthrophomorphic octopus race wouldn't be as popular as argonians or khajiit, but would appeal to same fandom. Just an FYI ;)

Seriously speaking, the original 10 is good, especially if they make them more diverse from Oblivion. Beast races more beastly, elves having some difference between humans other than heigth and ears.

you shure likes thoose liche's :P don't want them to be a starter race, but would be cool to maybe become on later in the game? Like you find an unique amulet in a tomb or something and it gives you the options
to become one, like bittercup in morrowind gave you the option to drink it or not.

Peeps need to stop complaining about not having this or that nieche race included that piques thair particualr fancy. If you can't deal with the Tamriel Ten then buy the game on PC and download a mod to play as a demora or fox-person or whatever.

In other news I'd love to see the Sload appear in a TES game. They'd probably be frustrating to fight (they love intervention/teleport spells). I hope somebody makes a decent mod to play as a sload.
