Races for Skyrim?

Does anyone know if they announced the available races for Skyrim yet? Because they better let us be able to play as a dwarf!

The same 10 races of course. They wouldn't change them. All they would do is present a new race or two but so far we've neither seen or heard of any.

I imagine they'd keep the original ten. What else could be added? The Dwemer are long gone.

In the Todd Howard interview part 2 he said that he spends much of his time looking for what is redundant and actually saying "How is each race different?" He also pretty much said that no new ones in this game.

He also said that while people tell him they should add item X and skill Y he focuses on what should be removed -.-

Imperials
Bretons
Nords
Redguards
Khajits
Argonians
Orcs
High Elves (Altmers)
Wood Elves (Bosmers)
Dark Elves (Dunmers)

It would be interesting to see what each race looks now that we can make our characters scrawny/bulky. Imagine a scrawny, weak-looking Imperial or a bulky, scary Orc?

No No No No NOOOOOOOO........we need at least one new race, I don't care if they take one out, or two,
heck cut Kajiit and Argonian, I never play lower races anyway.....and for that matter cut Imperials and
Bretons, one human race is enough....just give me one new race.....even if it's Na'vi

The should add a race of either wolf or fox people that would be a nice add and Skyrim being so different I could see either of them being a somewhat common race of the land.

The beast races will stay. The number of races will stay. If you were trying to get rid of our beast races....your endeavor failed. :teehee:

Not necessarily what can be "removed", but what can be combined, defined, and improved to make the experience of individual characters deeper and more unique.

His point was that he isn't looking to just add stuff in for the sake of it, but that he is looking to make a well rounded, exciting experience.

RACIST! What have Khajiiti or Argonians ever done to you?

I bet you play as a Dunmer, too.

The lore is pretty well established in Tamriel. There are ten races. Writing in a new one would have to come from Akavir or some undiscovered land. I think Beth's pretty set with their ten, anyways.

All 10 of the original, of course.

i think they should add the dremora race, as a bonus for completing the game or as a transcending feature like a lich.

Sounds like Howard's a subscriber of the "Ocaam's Razor" theory.

It would have to fit in with the Lore but hell i wouldn't mind vixens

Todd Howard said in the latest interview on GI that he thinks 10 races is enough. That's enough proof for me that there will be no new ones.

ya know what really pisses me off is that you can't play as the coolest race of all ''dremora'' and even better yet a lich dremora, that would be sweet.

I imagine they'd keep the original ten. What else could be added? The Dwemer are long gone.

well there's the Maormer (sea elves) that used to live on summerset isles, but were exiled to pyandonea.
then there's the Imga, a race of quite civilized Ape men from Valenwood.

But the fact is, we can't predict if that keep the same 10 races, or if they substitute any new ones in. There's an almost 200 year gap in lore that we don't know about, so you never know.
I mean its definitely plausible to think that maybe Argonian's aren't playable. That's just an example, (dont freak out at me) but last we know, the Argonian's ceced from the Empire and invaded Morrowind. If we're supposed to be working with the Blades (who last time i checked were pretty adamant about preserving the Empire) , why would we be able to be part of a race that hates the empire? Again, just an example, food for thought.

until we get more information on the time between the infernal city and skyrim, we have no way of knowing.

its going to be the same ten as usual...

imperial, nord, breton, redguard, dunmer, altmer, bosmer, orc, argonian, khajiit.

in one of the interview videos, todd said "ten races is enough", so i dont think we'll ever be seeing anymore than those.

the dwemer have been gone for ages, they vanished long ago, mysteriously, and absolutely no one knows what happened to them, even the last living dwemer in morrowind, though im sure he's gone too, by now... you know, since its been atleast 200 years since then!

the only way we'd get to play as the dwemer is if bethesda makes a TES game that goes back into the past when dwemer still existed, which i doubt will happen, but you never know.

Well if they add those races you could create your own vixen using all the character features for but still I would love to see the new races I mentioned but if they don't I will still go with the Khajiit mainly cause I love the stealth abilities but that is just me.

i read in a book from morrowind that the dwemer were utterly destroyed by the gods because of there abomination of technology
