Races of Morrowind

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 8:35 pm

Just rather curious to ask if anyone is working on any race mods. I've started playing again after a slump and I was hoping that someone would be working on some new races. As far as I know Westley is still busy with Melisande's (spelling?) Menagerie. Just figured that I would ask.

I however created this thread specifically to find out about race mods that are being worked on. Unfortunately between school and work I maybe get six hours a week of free time, which is usually spent doing homework or spending time with my wife and kids, so I don't really have time to go through an entire thread figuring out what is what.

Thanks for the suggestion however!

Yeah, Dagoth Ur was pretty much speechless when that duo took him down.

I am always making new races (sort of my "modding tension reliever" ; meaning that I cobble a new race in my breaks between the larger mod projects that I am working on). Doing this gives a feeling of accomplishment so that I can return to the various other projects refreshed and often with new ideas :) . The last ones that I posted a screen of were the Darkling and the Sidhe (and that was quite a while ago). I really should get round to releasing them (though I do not know if any would actually play as one of these races, they are still fun to make and add to my own game).

I am also working on a few "Dragonkin" races (which could, for those that want cooperation with lore to either be those from Akavir among the Tiger men who attempted the transformation into dragons, but only attained a mid stage, leaving Tosh Raka as the only to actually complete the transformation; the Elite/Advanced Guard of the Ka Po Tun, if you will). There is an optional skin for those that want these to be more tigeresque. Else, I am making these as various types of anthropomorphic scaly dragons (with various features befitting their type). In this pack I also want to feature a few "argonian variations" (my favourite of these so far is the Chameleon inspired Argonian with those fantastic googly eyes that look in all directions :D ).

Well, I have two that I'm working on. One is a largish race collection that will (attempt to) fit in closely with existing lore. But that project is sadly on hold while my friend and go-to graphics guy works on the large city collaboration I am also part of (which will ultimately support for the race pack).

The other is a white-skinned "gypsy" elf that I'm doing all on my own (and thus may never see light of day :brokencomputer: ) in the same style. If I don't make it myself, it may end up in the big pack. Unless my buddy get's sick of doing graphics for me. :bolt:

I had a fox race I was working on that's since been put on the backburner. I can release it half finished if no one minds playing as a male with no facial animations. (Even if I finished it, you wouldn't get the latter anyway, since I couldn't get Blender to cooperate.)

I've used both, they are quite fun! Unfortunately they are not what I'm trying to go for right at this moment...

Anything you have would keep me busy for a while, and I probably would play those races. I quite liked the screens you posted and thought they were interesting. If any of the "Dragonkin" races would make a good barbarian, or ranger type character, I would be happy :celebration:

At this point, I'm somewhat bored with what I have (not to say that your races get boring Westly, I'm just running out of options).

Well, this seems to be more of a request now rather than an inquiry, but would anyone be willing to make a race for morrowind of Ajani Goldmane from Magic the Gathering?

http://www.wizards.com/magic/images/mtgcom/wallpapers/3s12j1y157_1024x768.jpg

I know that there are a number of mods out there that would look like him, but I would rather have something that is also a beast race like he would be, and yet have the size and musculature like he does in the following pic.

I am just amazed that there seem to be no, and I may just not be using the correct word, large or buff beast races. I've looked but seem to come up short every time, and I don't know if that is just a problem with the Morrowind engine or the body type of the character models (again I don't have quite the modding terminology for races) that prevent this or what. I just remain curious about this. If anyone would be willing to make this race I would definitely be greatful.

Something like this is what I'm hoping to see for a long time, wee need a few real beasts, not some skinny rats and cats :P

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7836 is pretty close to Ajani*, IMO. If you don't think he's bulky enough, it probably wouldn't be all that difficult to increase his width in the CS, but it may end up looking a little bit odd if you do. *shrugs*

*By Morrowind standards.

http://www.lions.luz.cc/real/2155.jpg They're not super bulked-up bodybuilders. That amount of muscle really is solely a human thing. :meh:

Anyway...bulk like that would require an entirely new body mesh. Tinkering with weight in the CS isn't going to do it.

Like Xeth-Ban mentioned, Slof's Maned Khajiit is a big Fellow. It even has a face that has only one eye. :)

Thats true, (and this is me being nitpicky which is weird for this) his legs aren't hind jointed like the beast races in morrowind. From my understanding you would have to have a mesh specifically with hind jointed legs to switch it in the CS to a beast race.

I just feel as though that Slof's mod doesn't make them big enough. Although it seems quite close to what I'm trying to do, I'll see what I can do in the CS with it.

They're big enough that they already have trouble with stairs and doors.

Would that be from their muscle mass or their height?

A little bit of both, but mostly because of their height.

Indeed, and that can be quit annoying at times. So making them even bigger is not a good idea in my opinion.
