Races?

Post » Thu May 24, 2012 3:37 am

Anyone else think that there's not enough diversity in the reaction of races. My Dunmer just got lectured by another Dunmer on Morrowind. And my Altmer can't even connect with the Thalmor. This has really been my only complaint with the ES. They don't add enough recognition to your character based on their race.

This is coming from an immersion point of view. It really takes you out of the game.

If you're human in real life (and I'm pretty sure you are), does it mean that you can go have tea with Barak Obama on sundays? The thalmor really have no reason to care to talk to you just because you're a fellow Altmer...and there are lots of people of every races living in the empire, too many to make you special on a racial basis.

I've had a few NPCs comment on my Orc's race.

They're out there.

There really is no racism penalty for picking a race.

EDIT: Example going into a inn and everyone pointing at the "Nords Only" sign.

Having started with an Orc and then making a Nord...they definitely interact with you differently if you're a Nord. Much less suspicion in the guards' comments.

The dialogue is the same as if you are a Nord. Even npc's that comment on your race will something then, no matter what they say, treat you kindly......... even if you're a khajiit.

I've noticed a number of situations where race does affect interaction with NPCs, such as being an orc and approaching one of their strongholds or being argonian and talking to the dock workers at Windhelm. I agree that it would be cool to see more of it, though. Especially as a khajiit, dunmer, or altmer, considering their increased racial tension with the nords. Imagine being given a hard time by the guards as a khajiit just because they think you might be a thief, or being accused as a Thalmor spy if you're a high elf.
