Racial Design to lore inconsistencies

Hello,

I've always wondered what possessed Bethesda to seemingly abandon the intriguing lore surrounding races like the Bosmer, and give them comical racial designs. For instance, how did the Bosmer go from a cannabalistic, tribal, near savage species with the ability to transform in to wild beasts in the "wild hunt", to this:

Even in Skyrim, many Bosmer are designed with large eyes and ridiculous hair styles. Why? Do Bethesda take the lore as a joke? I can't seem to reconcile the design with the lore - and it breaks immersion.

What are your thoughts.

The ones born and raised outside their homelands are usually pretty chill and don't conform to tradition that much. Applies to every race, really. That's why you see some Altmer peacefully raising horses in Windhelm. TES isn't one of those games where every race has exactly one personality.

Having large eyes and ridiculous hairstyles doesn't mean you can't be cannibalistic savages.

Also, races have individual members who are different, and savage cannibals probably won't excel in the heart of the Imperial empire.

Plus, the Green Pact only states that they can't eat or use any wood or vegetable matter of Valenwood only. It's shown in A Dance in Fire that they're perfectly willing to accept imports from beyond Valenwood. So pretty much, beyond Valenwood their religion has no restrictions on them.

Well, I suppose it sorts of match them to look disheveled and odd, they were a bunch of shapeshifting mutating monsters before Y'ffre helped em out. Heck theyre the same race as the Khajiit. But I agree I wish theyd look a bit more serious, faces a bit more angular and clean, eyes a little more defined. They seem to be the least appealing of all races physically. As Jagar said though, its quite likely the more pure bosmer are in Valenwood, its very likely those we see now are not ''pure'' so to speak.

That.
Also that most Bosmer outside of their homeland dont dress or work as they do in Valenwood. So what we mostly see is boring "average" Bosmers. And the Adoring Fan is just a joke from Morrowind, but twisted.
