Racial Effects

How much do you think Race will be a factor in Skyrim? Being a dark elf in Morrowind didn't seem to help much against the (some) Dunmer racists, but given the Dunmer majority, it did help a bit with disposition.

If there is a Nordic Civil War, or a breaking of the Empire's control in Skyrim, perhaps there might be more tension between different races in Skyrim?

Maybe being a Nord would help you to be accepted more easily by a native faction, but another native faction may be more suspicious of you because of the civil war. Imperials may be treated badly by the natives if the Empire has crumbled, but may be able to get support from any Imperial remnants in Skyrim.

I think it'll be a major factor, Civil War is threatning Skyrim, and i think there will be alot of racial suspicion. But i seriously think Nords will have the upper hand on Racial Benefits. Because yeah duh it's Skyrim ;) ?

Generally , your choice of race won't make any major impact on the gameworld and quests like in previous Elder Scrolls. It'll only affect your character stats. And how NPCs greet you as you pass them by , and yes, some disposition modifiers.

Being a Dunmer in Morrowind doesn't give you any signifcant advantage in the Ashlander Camps quests for the main quest line.

I'm planning on being a Dark Elf... I always am. I can't wait to see what the races look like on the new engine. Hopefully I'm not a minority, and if I am, I'll kill everyone until we are the majority

I'm thinking that having race as a larger factor would help with the immersion or feel of the game, especially if the Empire is crumbling, since it would give Skyrim (the place) it's own identity, as in how the Nords of Skyrim feel and react to others, and how others react to the Nords.

The only non-statistical racial effect I remember in Oblivion is the Malacath Shrine, whereby you are treated better as an Orc.

If they where to incorporate the Karma/Fame system from Fallout:NV I'm sure that would make for some interesting dialog between Races and Religions.

As a dunmer character primarily, I am looking forward to being hated by those ugly, brutish Nords.

Eh, I'd say the nords are a lot more respectful to the dunmer than the altmer.

Agreed. Would be perfect for a game based around a civil war. Hopefully they at least do something like it.

Racial dialogue would be cool, allowing different races unique ways to complete quests, etc.

I loved the racial taunts in combat though. You're outmatched , Elf !!
