Racial Lore

The Atmorans were all hunters. The Nords didn't know agriculture until they arrived in Tamriel. That's why they don't have agricultural deities like Zeht. I mentioned this.

I know, and I did not contradict it.

I never excluded the idea that they don't have farms. However, they can still raise animals in alpine regions such as mountain goat. Contemporary Nord culture is more sedentary, though more nomadic Nords would still rely on hunting.

That was my point, to say that Nords would have change since the Atmoran emigration. And Though alpine region animal raising might very well be possible, I find it much more believable that they wold herd animals in "valleys" and "open field" regions, and probably move animals such as reindeers (or anything alike), like the Sami people did and still do. But to support big cities, and even to develop a city-culture, large grain production (and supporting) seems to be inevitable. Farming is much more prosperous occupation than hunting, and when once learned from the Tamerielic people, most Nords would probably have settled and built farms of their own.
Just to make things clear, I'm no longer saying Nords would have a almost-only-grains kind of diet, more wanting to prove that they would rather have fairly balanced food culture.

Clearly not, none of the ones in Cyrodiil have teets.

Well, that's because all the minotaurs we see are bulls. Surely you can get milk from a cow minotaur.

Skyrim does have a large area of land that is really good for grain farming. Don't forget that Skyrim controls a lot of the Reach. And the coastal cities could easily develop from fishing. As a Swede, you should know this. Four of the major cities of Skyrim are on the coast. Another one is in the Reach. These seem to have an ample source of food, just that most of it would consist of fish. And since they do have potatoes in Tamriel, I'm sure Nords eat plenty of them, since they grow well in rough, cold areas, like Skyrim.

I am always afraid of posting here as my ignorance of lore is a wonder to behold.
but to paraphrase the prevoius post slightly

Nords
strong affinity for meats (due to yeas of hunting)
affinity for grain products (introduced in past)
less afinity for fruits. (I cannot imagine may places in nord lands suitable for orchards)
no affinity for exotic food.

What are you thinking? It's commonly known that Nords grow fruit only to make more liquor.

Sigh, mead, ale, and beer.

Why are you apologizing? It was a just a hit on Nord inebriation. :)

It isn't "lore" but I have a fair amount of biology in my background, so...

Kajiit- these are meat eaters- just look at the teeth. Those teeth aren't designed for munching carrots but for slicing through flesh and snapping neck bones. That doesn't mean they can't get nutrition from fruits and veggies its just that meat would probably be much more nutritious for them. Remember the "Famous Potato Bread" lady? Kajiit. So they aren't *exactly* cat-a-likes. If you want to make something not very nutritious at all I'd make it dairy. (Actually I'd make it grains... but can't because of the potato bread.)

Not too be a "know it all", but cats and carnivores in general do eat vegetables well kind of...when a carnivore kills itrs prey it eats the stomach first which contains all the vegetables that the prey ate earlier so in a way it could be possible that they eat vegetables. Also many carnivores eat plants to get fiber that they need to digest that hard gristle they chow down. So I would suggest making some plants eatable in Khajitt diet but not all plants.
