RAD problem in game play

Post » Thu Jan 21, 2016 11:51 am

Is Anyone having a RAD absorption problem? I taking +10 or +16 Rads all the time, anytime I leave my armor or start a task, the clicking starts and it's about 30 seconds before I die.

fast travel, respawn, or restart do not fix the problem.

Could use some insight.

Have you tried various safe locations like Sanctuary Hills to determine if it is a problem with the game or being in an irradiated area like the Southwest corner of the map?

Yah. that's an insane amount of rads to be taking unless you're in the Glowing Sea... even standing on a pile of barrels of radioactive waste would only be, like, 4 to 6 rads per second maybe. Swimming is about ten, if I recall (before I got AquaGirl).... SOMETHING is definitely amiss. You almost have to be wandering in the Glowing Sea to get that kind of dosage. Unless there's some mod at work or something.

Even in the Glowing sea it never rises above 2, if you keep the RadX coming. But it can rise to that level. Before clearing the barrels from the drive In, that pit gives you 20+. Without RadX, of course.

Maybe you got hit with some Gamma Guns or something? Something that builds the rads to a certain level, but doesn't hit you all at once? If you get hit by a glowing one or something it takes a little while to "sink in" and stop radding you.

Maybe you have some sort of glitch where the rads stop in power armor but are kinda still there? so when you exit power armor then it kicks in and starts radding you up?

Try a test with a doctor nearby or tons of radaway and just keep dosing/curing yourself for a while to see if it stops at some point?

There are definitely places besides the glowing sea where you can get 10+ or even 20+ rads/second, so make sure you aren't near any radioactive waste barrels or deep water, or glowing things.

I think its a bug, I fast travel to any location, it's ok for a few seconds, but as soon as I start moving or exit my armor the clicking starts back up at +10 Rads and it's 30 seconds I'm dead.

it really svcks, it makes the game unplayable. I haven't even been to the SW corner of the map yet, I'm level 25

Try to go see a doctor and pay for the Rad cure and see if that fixes it?

If it's everywhere, it's clearly a bug.

to Stubbs, I've gone to the doctor on the airship and got it to zero, but as soon as I move away from him the clicking starts again, and right back to +10 Rads. I've pretty much written off the game at this point, I'm only at Lev 25

Abaris, yes it's everywhere, I goggled it and found a bunch of discussion off this forum that are complaining of the same issue, it started at level 20.

And Starkaos, it's even doing it at Sanctuary. which is where I first noticed it, thought I might have brought back a contaminated armor suit or something.

but to point, if I am near something radiated, I simply was running away to stop it, but it doesn't matter now, I can't find a way to stop it, I've sent several notes to Bethesda tech support, noting back yet, I'm hoping they can figure out a patch for it.

Can you tell, when it started? Do you have older saves? If you are level 25 now, how was it at level 10? Because maybe some 'game stat' hangs on your character, maybe it did not register you leaving a radiated zone and continued with the effect? You say 'anytime I am leaving my armor' - does this mean, that power armor protects you, if you wear it?

It would be best to find out, when this happened. I do not think this was so at the start? Because you would not have survived this...

Also - did you try to disable all your mods, if you have any? Because a mod could be responsible.

If you wrote to support - did you send them a save? If not, do this, because they can load your save and if this is a bug, they will see it and probably be quick to find the bug.

You have been poisoned by communist spy. Rad resistance is futile.

You should check you pockets. You're obviously carrying something radioactive! :)

It seems like the glitch/bug is the same kind of "npc using armor workbench and create a permanent "sound"". You just need to look at the link and read the posts. If nothing helps, reload a saved game. Sonny gave me an idea, remove all clothes/armor and equipment. Get rid of all items in inventory (except quest items - they cannot be removed). Wear something else, save and reload. See if that help. I cannot risk myself by using console to create such glitch to test for you.

Cheers,

Picked up the problem climbing into a Vertibird in an irradiated place (water)

Reload to prior point was the only solution I could find.

So just open up a prior save...
