I'm trying to run Fallout 3 GOTY with a Radeon HD 6950, but every time I log in it throws the error "Failed to initialize renderer". I've updated my drivers and Direct X, but the issue won't go away.

Is my card incompatible, and if not, does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? I have a far more powerful rig than the game needs in every other respect.

Compatibility with your card is not the issue here at all. I have that card as do many others and the game runs fine. That "Failed to initialize renderer" error is typically from driver issues. Reinstall them again or try a different driver.
