Radiant quests: settlers not in location mentioned in quest

Post » Sun Feb 07, 2016 10:47 am

My question is regarding all those Minutemen radiant quests where Preston tells you to talk to a settler about ghoul/raider/greenskin problems, etc. The problem is that the location of the settler as shown in Pip-Boy > Data > Quests is sometimes different from what the marker on the Pip-Boy map indicates. For instance, if the quest is called "Ghoul problems: Tenpines Bluff", the map marker may show the settler's location in Covenant instead of Tenpines Bluff. Is this caused by my having moved the settler? Or is it a bug? Do settlers move around by themselves? I thought only provisioners would travel.

Its a bug. A few people on here complaining about it, myself included.

The other day I had to talk to a settler in Sanctuary for a raider quest. Trouble is that the settler in question was one I had moved to Country Crossing and put on an artillery piece long ago. Strangely, he apparently ran all the way back to Sanctuary for me to speak with him to pick up the quest, then ran back to Country Crossing to man the gun and wait for me to tell him that the job was done.

This has happened to me...somewhat..

I got a meet settler quest from Preston for the drive-in.

When I got there I got the quest from a provisioner and they were on the way out of the settlement..

Caught them on the edge.

Strangely...the quest was for an area near Sunny Farms..

So I finished the quest and stopped off at the farm and the same provisioner was there and the quest updated.

What is weird is I don't think that provisioner is even assigned that route...

There are a few.... *critters*... in MM radiants. Questgiver and who report quest done to, not always the same. Be aware that Preston/radio guy only give "settlements in trouble" and that is not the main quest.

Btw, maybe post in hint, cheats and spoiler for such questions....

Cheers,

Every time that has happened to me, the settler was a provisioner. I have had to intercept them on their routes.

Think of it as a chance to see the country.

Definately happened to me with setlers that were not provisioners (although i had that happen).

And i didn't send them anywhere.

Maybe they were not assigned to any task... i don't know for sure.

It might be a bug but it presents due to moving settlers. I'd bet that your quest location is where that person originally settled.

In my game, I sent a ghoul to the slog, and a dirty, dirty faced woman to sunshine co-op ... both from sanctuary. They both walk the whole way to sanctuary to tell me their problems, and then walk all the way back after I accept. Literally, the whole way. I've walked with 'em.

Both non-provisioners, by the way. Just settlers down to walk.

I've found If you fast travel to the location, the settler with the quest is always there to give you the quest even if it's showng them in a different location beforehand

Yeah its a chaotic mess sometimes. I've had my castle medic walk to sanc. hills to give me a quest for a kidnapping at sanc. only for the kidnapping area to be pretty far from both locations.

....other times its like "this makes sense" but then there's that ^
