How do you get weapons that deal radiation damage?

I once found a Gamma pistol and as far as I can remember I also saw one at a vendor, in Diamond City or Goodneighbour. But I think the whole Gamma weapons are utterly useless because you cannot use them against the more problematic enemies. Who cares about killing humans, it's easy.
