Radiation Storms

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 4:37 am

Along with all the dynamic weather and what-not we are getting storms, but not just any storms Rad Storms! And I really hope they are a real threat and you have to watch out for them. They have also been done in other games, like S.T.A.L.K.E.R, (Blowouts I believe?). Anyway, what do yous guys think of them? You looking forward to them? Or not? I personally think they will be Bad-ass as hell.

Just imagine fighting a group of raiders and a storm blows in, your pip-boy is warning you of the rads, and there is raiders shooting at you. You can also barely see anything, next thing you know I raider gets blown away by the massive winds, and the shack your hiding is slowly being ripped apart. How cool would that be?

Fallout new vegas had those modded in. I am more curious to know if npcs will actually be affected by the storm. Like will ghouls start to heal? Or will the raider drop dead from poisoning?

I'm really excited about the storms. I loved Chesko's Frostfall mod because it made the rain and snow feel so much more real. I'm hoping these radstorms will have a similar effect. If shelter could actually be slowly destroyed by these storms like you suggested, that would awesome. There was some destructible environment shown in the demo (i think a grenade blew some wall panels off a building) so this might actually be possible

I thin kyou might be over ebbing it. I'd expect it to be like the rain in NV:HH but with the lightning causing rad spikes simlar to glowing ghouls. I don't see it tearing up the terrain or blowing veterans of the area away. Unless the Rads now impact NPCs not sure what it will do :/

I think it will be more atmospheric. Quite different to the emissions in Stalker which were 99% warning to take cover and then 1% the blast and then it's done.

I hope they add more than just atmosphere and as others have said are genuinly dangerous.

The Mad Max game has some cool storms and early on the player really does have to weigh the danger of being in them.

I hope it will slowly destroy flimsy shacks, like it should, it should also limit visibility.

The Mad Max ones are done really well. They have different levels and lengths. Sometimes it's just dust, others there's lightning. Debrie scraps fly around and can hurt the player and if caught in the open or in enemy camps when hit the wind can actually blow the player and enemies around, making fighting that much harder.

I don't think they'll be anything like emissions from S.T.A.L.K.E.R since those were a bit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpdYowwjF8g, I think the weather is just going to be acid rain and radiation spikes or something along those lines.

Makes me want to build a porch at my settlement, complete with a porch swing, so's I can sit and watch the afternoon thunder storm. Maybe have an iced tea.

This storm in Stalker and frightening *o*
I doubt very much that the storm in Fallout 4 is as dangerous as the Stalker ....
I will not raise expectations to not let me down

I'm not sure what to expect. It could be mostly atmospheric with some harmful effects, or it could be a serious hide-or-die threat that changes your whole strategy. I'd prefer closer to the latter, sounds like it would add an interesting dimension of survival.

Early game the radiation would be dangerous as you have less Rad.Res and less health so the impact will be higher. Destorying buildings...I'd expect 200 years after they'd have blow away most of the weak stuff already unless people keep trying to rebuild the flimsy stuff :/

Well Todd Howard did say there is lightening during the storms and you get rads every time it strikes. I won't if it will be similar to Skyrim where the lightening can strike you or your enemies?

Would be cool if the storm was violent enough to where you would need to seek immediate shelter and your enemies would run away or be blown away in the ensuing chaos of the storm.

I posted this in the last thread but it was closed due to shenanigans. STALKER simply has THE best atmosphere for a post apocalyptic setting and I hope that Fallout borrows some of those ideas.

I would also like to see something like anomalies.

As this storm will be a danger if the player can use quick trip to get away?
I hope that the fast travel option is locked (when the storm begin) to force the player to seek shelter ....
