radio bugfix

(to find them, go under "Actor Data" then "Quests" - filter for radio. 'edit' the appropriate radio quest, and go to the Radio tab. The results script is near the bottom.

I'm looking over the radio quest data for New Vegas Radio. I'm not finding anything that appears wrong.

Is there anyone else looking into this?

EDIT: I'm restoring my FO3 installation backup so I can do some comparisons. I want to squish this bug.

UPDATE:

The only difference I'm seeing is that the scripts in NV are in the start block, where they were in the end block in FO3...
... also the conditions are a bit different, but they seem equally valid. Could use someone else' eyes

I guess I could take a look, but which bug are you referring too?

The radio stations appear to be playing only a limited few songs for several people, myself included. There are songs on the list I have never heard.

Can you give examples of what those songs are? I think you just might be mistaken about how many songs are on the radio - there's only about a dozen or so. All the other 48 songs aren't part of the radio playlist and aren't supposed to be part of the playlist.

Seems that you're right. I -have- heard them all on the list. If not on the PIPBoy, I've heard them on other radios (which means it's working...)

Well, nevermind then!

I've noticed an issue with it, it definitely appears to favour some songs. There's 25 in the folder and I can't recall ever hearing at least 5 of them.

Well, it's keeping a count of how many tracks have played, and if a given track was played last, time before last, or time before that (3 song history, basically).

Same code as it used in FO3 actually. Different, but it does the exact same thing.

By favour, I mean "plays these almost exclusively". I'll have a mess around and figure out if I can even it out. Just 'fixed' Blackrock Radio, it's phasing in and out of being listen-able was annoying me.

Indeed, it seems to happen at random: the station will get locked into a set of songs and keep repeating them (still randomly, but still only said set). Eventually the station will cycle out of this "locked set" and continue as normal. I've be investigating pretty much since the game came out and still can't figure out why. Possibly a bug in the current version of the game releated to Quests?

If you're exploring and you're listening to your radio, you're listening to your radio. Which means you're going to invariably listen to Big Iron and Johnny Guitar 50 times.
Why bother even having a radio station if the playlist is going to get annoying within twenty minutes of game play?

I think the real problem is 'random isn't random' and it get stuck on 1-2 songs after it plays the news.

I noticed if you have your pipboy up, it may repeat a sequence that you just heard, after putting your pipboy down. I haven't identified the exact timing though. FO3 does the same thing.
