S.T.A.L.K.E.R actually looks really awesome.
I played the first game (with lag and crap graphics) and it was really fun despite the problem.
I would suggest S.T.A.L.K.E.R to just about anyone, it seems like an awesome series if you have a computer that can handle it.

It's tough if you do not have pretty good FPS skills. Many people rage quit after the scuzzy bandits near the beginning just kill them.

It is an RPG of sorts as well and it accomplishes this by starting you off in a weak condition with poor armor and weapons. The local NPCs are better equipped than you and are hard to kill. Tough. As you progress the game opens up and you acquire better weapons and armor and a better understanding of the game world, a very dangerous place. Towards the end you get very nice guns and strong armor and with the 'artifact' system you can further enhance your abilities. For example if you equip endurance enhancing 'artifacts' you can run pretty well forever.

Most of us who get through the start and go on become hopelessly addicted to the game.

I doubt Stalker is really playable on a console. Stalker 2 is supposed to be cross platform but it's not a couch game at all.

It's tough. The NPCs are as powerful as you. The first mission where you try to take down some bandits is where most people quit. They will kill you. One shot quite often. There is no room, no slop, stick your head out at the wrong time .. you are dead.

The Ukrainians/Russians make games to make you feel inadequate and pitiful. The US games are supposed to make you feel like a hero. Metro 2033 is a US style game made by the Ruski developers for money. A walk in the park on hardcoe hard. Just a few hours. I have many hundreds in all three Stalker games.

You are right, I love all 3 Stalker games and am still play through Clear Sky atm well until my desktop died again (PSU this time) looking at getting a Asus G73 gaming laptop soonish which should play all of them in Full HD. Still interested how Stalker 2 will run on my PS3 on my 52 inch Sony Bravia it is still sure to look great but it will be different playing it on a PS3 controller instead of mouse/keyboard because if they keep Stalker 2 like the others it will be VERY hard! I hope they keep it like this and don't soften it up, its toughness is what makes the game fun, every step of the way you fight to keep alive and that is how it should be... I think Americans have been softened on games where the Hero mentality is in play. Stalker really does keep you on edge and the constant theme of radiation and mutants always keeps you wary!

Spoken like someone who couldn't handle the difficulty and couldn't PWN the enemy like he can in a COD game, too hard for you? Awwwww!

You seem to rage about S.T.A.L.K.E.R being lame and a waste of time but might I ask why its lame and why it was a waste of time for you?

Oh and no I don't think RAGE will be better than Fallout.
It'll likely be better than Fallout 3 and Fallout: Brotherhood Of Steel but hardly better than the other games in the series.

Don't ask. I already said.

I asked cause I haven't heard you say your reasons for it being lame and a waste of time.

It seems to me with all those USB ports you should be able to run a mouse and keyboard on a PS3. To me that would be the best of both woulds.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R is meant to be hard?

I never got the feeling that it was reknown for being a tough game.

On topic. No, I think rage is far too limited to compete with Fallout. Fallout is something of a juggernaut.

I think it's competition is Boarderlands. This game looks exactly like a non cel shaded Boarderlands, there are just so many aspects that it is ridiculous. Like the style is almost exactly the same.

Don't really think they should be stacked against each other considering the difference in genre. I'm wondering if Rage can give me a better post-apocalyptic experience though.

Sounds like you're over confident, 9/10 says you prolly can't get through ghost town gunfight on fallout nv

Gameplay? Yes.
Graphics? Yes.
Story? ....
Fun? Depends on how well co-op works.

This game seems extremely like Fallout, ARCS are Vaults ect, now that's a great thing as I [censored] love Fallout and the exploration is awesome for me.

NOW, will RAGE top Fallout 3? that game was great to explore so will RAGE be bigger than FO3 or smaller ect.

I would say: no.

I think they are different game types with very similar bases -- they both centre on the same thing.

For me, I have no interest in playing RAGE.

What I like about Fallout is mainly its creativity and RPG format. And its environments -- wonderful!

I don't think RAGE and Fallout will be that much alike gameplay wise, aside from having a similar post-apocalyptic theme.

Both involve FPS mechanics in quite similiar manner in a more or less open postapoc world with mutants and people to shoot at. Sounds pretty similiar to me. Not identical, but quite similiar nonetheless.

Ones an action game, the other is an rpg. They are two very different games that simply share similar environments and style. Neither plays anything like the other, so they can't rightly be compared too much. I will say though that RAGE is looking damn fine from what I have seen of it. One of my most anticipated of the year. Right under Human Revolution, right before Skyrim.

Nah I don't think so Fallout destroys RAGE. All Rage looks like is another generic shooter that has cruddy Co-op and Multiplayer but limited storyline. It does have good graphics but that doesn't matter if the game play is bad. Rage can do it's own thing and be successful but it's not even in Fallout's league.

I don't know if Rage will be superior to Fallout 3, but it wont have RPG elements to the extent that Fallout 3 had, so I probably wont play it.

No, So far the only game that would have a competition with Fallout is STALKER, the only worthy opponent IMO

While there are some similarities in themes... unlike Fallout 3, RAGE is a first person shooter at it's core. Remember, this is made by id Software, the guys that pioneered the genre (Wolfenstein, DOOM, Quake).

which is exactly why I think I'll enjoy RAGE a lot more than Fallout 3 (or new Vegas for that matter)

I tried to like Fallout 3... I really did, but I'm a FPS player at heart and I couldn't get over the horrible controls in F3. :nope:
