Rage screen tearing on Alienware

I have an alienware M11xR3

I get screen tearing and slow graphics rendering.

Is that normal due to this release?

There are some driver bugs if you have an ATI card... something about openGL issues causing issues within game and crashes. ATI is releasing driver tonight apparently to fix it.

And there are some megatexture issues and texture popping that are more apparent on the PC version that I'm sure id software is well aware of and working on... its different on each machine at this point. Alot of reports of that, so I would expect it to go noticed by the developers pretty quickly

*sigh*

Alienware is the computer manufacturer, ATI is the *video card* manufacturer. Just because your PC is an Alienware doesn't mean that it doesn't have an ATI video card in it. Check the specs for your computer on Alienware's site.

OK, this is a notebook with dual video adapters. The primary is an nvidia, but the secondary is an Intel integrated chipset.

First, make sure you're on the latest nvidia driver package, and that the nvidia is the active video adapter.

In the bottom right toolbar in windows should be a Hybrid SLI icon, which if you right click you can switch between integrated and discrete GPUs. (If I'm not mistaken. I have an R1 M11x but don't have it in front of me.) I believe you have to make sure the power setting is in "high performance" mode also.

Edit: I believe there is an "I/D GFX" Key. Fn + that key should switch between integrated and discrete graphics.
