Ragequitting

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 2:15 am

@ Waagabond read my post about the actual frustration as I see it. It's about 3-5 posts back (edit: its #87 and my post after that).

Short version:
Hard areas - fine
Random stupidly hard non boss mob in the middle of easy area: WTF

The game isn't hard, there are very few hard games left. The ninja gaiden series were the last properly hard ones I played.

Learn to play the game instead, since you can overcome even the toughest of enemies with cunning and tactics at lower level.
And yes, they will 1 shoot you if your health is too low, or their damage is so high that even if you are at full health, your 100 hp which you likely have, is nothing.

Good point. I remember trying to take on a Draugr Deathlord with my melee char when fairly low level, the result being a very fast death several times in a row, after several reloads. The i tried using the shadows and sniping with a bow from long distance. The seemingly invincible Deathlord went down within 5 minutes, no problem.

If something is handing your ass on a plate, either rethink tactics (things like the combustible oil in dungeons can be great) or just come back when more powerful. At level 40 i still can have bad news situations with multiple bandit marauders, briarhearts and even the odd Elder Dragon (when the local wildlife joins in  )

It`s quite enjoyable figuring out how to get past a foe that presents a challenge.

I'm playing on master as a pure melee fighter which means 2H-weapons, heavy armor and no magic, enchants and even potions at all. I can only eat food to restore my health when not fighting. And I still in lack of difficulties. OP should really go play with dolls.

Op wanted to say, imo, that Skyrim is like Miss Universe....pretty and stupid. Unfortunately, it is. The game lacks intelligence, and gets boring really fast....like, after killing dreugr deathlord #345.....

For the most part this game has been pretty fun for me with logical differences in enemy power levels (tip avoid giants and frost trolls until you're really strong), but sometimes the enemies' strength does seem a little inconsistent. Just yesterday I was attacked by a dragon outside of Halted Stream Camp, it was tough but I killed it without dying. Then I entered the camp, wiped the floor with 5 or 6 bandits who could barely even scratch me. Enter the next room, and a bandit chief, who didn't visually look much stronger than his buddies, effing annihilated me. That guy was at least twice as strong as the dragon! After 3 deaths I was only able to beat him with poisoned arrows while Lydia tanked for me and I still only survived with a sliver of health.

Leave the dungeon and come back later when you have more armor and better talents/skills.

Its obvious from your post despite it being absent of details that you have bitten off more than you can chew w/ that particular quest. You can sell the game and mess out on the hundreds of other quest and missions. You can bypass that quest and come back to it later. Or go play COD like everyone else who's not on Skyrim. Its up to you. Just come back to it later, when you're a higher level. I promise you'll have a certain since of satifaction when you finally hand out that beat down. Dont forget to use your inventory, potions, scrolls, what ever you have. You can always pick up and buy new stuff. If your getting owned that bad break out the goodies and get some pay back!!!!

1. Some portions of the game are not level scaled i.e. you will die come back later.
2. If you pimp out lockpicking, speech, enchanting, smithing, while not investing in combat skills you will fail
3. As per above it is possible to build a fail character in this game - thank god for that
4. I can't believe you are proposing different colours or level numbers for enemies - please don't say that again because that is exactly the type of sh1t we will see in TES:VI I can't think of anything more immersion breaking
5. It does appear on balance that you prefer a more balanced WoW-esque excel spreadsheet gamestyle - TES is not this, no thanks to Bethesda's inability to properly balance gameplay - embrace the quirkiness ;)

While it does annoy me some times, I think it gives the game a better edge having tough enemies appear from time to time with no warning. It will keep you on your toes, imagine how boring the game would be if you were steam rolling every fight no matter what the difficulty was? You may be dragonborn but you have a lot of learning/levelling up to do and there is always a bigger fish.

I like how opponents can rush you and kick your ass if you are not ready to fight... I think that part is actually pretty realistic. You can also get fast kills on tough opponents if you throw them off balance/catch them by surprise. Combat is pretty fast paced and deadly in Skyrim.

Once you understand how the combat works it becomes pretty exciting. If you know what you are doing you can win fights without having to chug 6 healing potions.

No, no, no, no, You need to put the disc that says Skyrim in the drive. You obviously put something else in there.

Two more notes, Beware of trolls:

1. You probably svck at this game if youre having that much trouble. Trying to circle strafe? Lolololol

2. It's telling that you joined the Skyrim boards, just to come on and tell a bunch of people who care enough about the game that in your op it svcks. And you expect us to care? Lololololol

Entertaining replies so far, if mostly useless. The one bit of advice to 'always dodge power attacks' is absolutely the only thing anyone here said that is of value - everyone else needs to log off the internet and go take a look at their lives if they are spending their time on a message board posting like this. You aren't helping, and it can't be much fun to be you.

Seriously, it should not be necessary to specify that I am blocking, bashing, power attacking dodging etc etc. Within the context of all of that this game is ludicrously easy.

Solved the fight somehow, it turns out that it was one almost naked chick with a one-handed sword was the real problem. Even a regular cross hand slash was hitting for about 50% health if not blocked, solution spam health potions/stamina potions and bash-lock.

Yay. Fun. Can't wait for the compelling gameplay of TES amirite boys? =/

But your thread is just oh so valuable?

I find it funny how some people are complaining about how this game is too easy while others are whining about how its too hard. If its too easy on master difficulty then you probably used some minor exploit (power leveling enchanting, smithing, alchemy and looping potions and enchants) If its too hard on easy difficulty then you're approaching the fight wrong.

Which is exactly why I don't do much more than troll these threads.

There is a long spectrum of the player base regarding balance and difficulty.

It starts at "omg this game is too easy!" and goes all the way to "omg this game is too hard!",
with all the ranges in between.

It'd be different if there was some kind of general consensus, but there isn't. So I simply
sit back and laugh as they think everyone agrees with them, and their problem is the only
one that anyone has seen.
