Ragnar the Red in different languages

Post » Tue Feb 11, 2014 11:08 pm

http://youtube.com/watch?v=nZMhUus0pZA. It starts off sensibly, but quickly goes downhill. Prepare to laugh. Especially if you speak any of these languages.

The Spanish version.. Is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. http://youtube.com/watch?v=AoO4jkamM1s

Any Spanish-speaking players out there who have an opinion on this?

And oh my goodness, the Polish version. The Nine preserve us.... I almost died laughing. :P

I don't think we pay enough attention to the other versions of the game. And by the sounds of it... Neither do some of the voice actors! :P

...I hope I'm not the only one who thought the Spanish one sounded like Puss in Boots

The Spanish one is indeed, utterly ridiculous.

But I implore you to listen to the Polish version at the end of the video. It dosen't... I don't even.

I didnt think spanish was that bad. Surely would sound better if the voice didnt stop every four words

edit: just heard the polish one, THAT one sounds funny/weird

Any speakers of these languages out there? Naturally the interpretations/lyrics are quite different to the English version.

I was hoping people could provide us with some insight.

Rough translation Harry? I'm intrigued.

And yes. It's hilarious. :P Can't wait for a translation by Rosveen or some other Pole. Surely the words must be different for it to rhyme?

The Spanish one sounds pretty sweet, really. Just a shame that they changed the original melody.

Remember the last line of the composition? 'And the braggart named Ragnar was boastful no mooooreeeee.... When his ugly red head rolled around on the floor!'

Now listen to the Spanish guy 'sing' it. Veeeery anti-climactic. :P

That Spanish version's okay--it's more of a story with background music instead of a song. At least they didn't force the translation into the original song like the Japanese version did.

Good gods the japanese version of the songs...they sound enthusiastic at least.

I don't think it can be anti-climactic if it doesn't build up to anything to begin with.

'And so... The brave lad Ragnar.. Dashed into Whiterun on his milk white steed. And took arms against a shield maiden. The battle was long and furious.. And then his filthy red head came off.'

I'm paraphrasing... XD. But I would still call it anti-climactic. Even the Spaniards in the comments think it svcks.

Then again, I'm not Spanish or American. So I can't speak a word of Spanish.

Russian one sounds autotuned.

Spanish one is not even singing.

Polish one... what the hell, I don't even...

Spanish is my third language so I could be very wrong, but does the lyric change so much that it loses its humor? I feel the satire is lost in this one as Ragnar did not come off as horrible as the English version lol.

I'm not saying it's good, either. The entire song's pretty dull to begin with. I guess having heard the original it can be anti-climactic, but within only the Spanish version it's just...meh.

Yeah, they left quite a bit of the original song out. Which is odd, since the guy's not even singing so there's no need to cut down on lyrics/words.

The Spanish version does not sound as bad as I expected.

Oddly enough, I find the lyrics in the Spanish version to be more interesting than the English ones.
