Setting
“Indeed the very seat of the federal government, Washington D.C., has been reduced to what is now known as the Capital Wasteland”. - John Henry Eden. ‘President’ Of the USA
One-hundred and eighty years after the great-war, humanity survives, but is far from thriving. In a land, torn to shreds by nuclear warfare, a once proud city now lies in ruins. This city, is Washington D.C.
D.C is a dangerous place, epic battles rage within the city day in and day out. The Brotherhood of Steel, originating form the west coast, and the Supermutants, gargantuous creatures with superhuman strength and size, clash, in intense battles all throughout the city. The area around the city is rife with raiders and slavers. Not to mention the creatures. Gigantic beasts from the depths, and even larger ones on the surface. Each even more deadly than the other. Then there’s the Deathclaws, but I wont even go there.
There are other people out there too. Amongst them, the regulators. People who enforce the old laws of America. But there’s no court system. Commit a crime, or do wrong by these people and you pay with your life. As mentioned before, the Brotherhood of Steel are a major influence n the wasteland. The most technologically advanced people out there, their power armour really gives them the edge in combat, nobody else knows how to salvage it off their bodies, let alone wear it. Their holed up in the Citadel, a giant military instalment built soon after the scourge of the Pitt. The Outcasts, follow the ‘true mission’ of the Brotherhood of Steel. They left the brotherhood as they didnt beleive in Elder Lyons' goals.
There are also a few beacons of hope, humanities last bids for civilization. Megaton, a city built up from an old airfield, is near the ruins of Springvale, an old pre-war town. Megaton was founded by a group of travellers heading for the vault, needless to say, they didn’t get in. So Megaton was formed. They got some scrap from nearby, and before you knew it, there were huge walls encircling the town. Then there’s Rivet City. An old military aircraft carrier, converted to a town. No one really knows how it was founded. But there are rumours a guy named Pinkerton had something to do with it.
The raiders make up a vast majority of the wastelands inhabitants. The fight in tribes, or gangs in a bid to secure their superiority and of course, riches. But hardly any tribes have a vast enough hoard to be considered rich, or large enough numbers to be considered superior. The Raiders often pick out easy targets to rob, and probably kill. More often than not, their morality is indeed questionable.
