Raiding in ESO, good or bad?

Raiding, good or bad?

I understand that elder scrolls online will not contain a raiding system and that there are no later plans to introduce one at this stage

But i would like to share my own opinions on raiding and hear other peoples opinions also.

Personally i think raiding isnt all bad
Having a massive group of friends working towards a difficult goal that could not be completed in a small group is fun
It brungs people together and makes them interact
It offers the opportunity to challenge massively powerful being from the lore of your story without weakening or dumbing down that said being to where they can be defeated easily
It also instills a sort of fealing of achievement to people taking part
Especially when said raids are designed as a challange not a grind

Some bads points to throw in the mix are mistakes made by other mmos
Especiallly world of warcraft
Raid content should not be the only viable end game solution
Raiding gear should be on par with pvp end gear and the best crafted gear within the game and be on the same level of difficulty to accuire
Raids should not take hours on end to complete but at the same time they should not become mind numbingly easy so a group can walk through them with no challenge
They need to offer an incentive for completion, other than THE BEST LOOT!
And offer a large world affecting accomplishment at the end

I would suggest short raids that are unlocked via completeing end game story content in places like cyrodil
i.e. completing the short story driven quests will unlock the opertunity to go to molag balls house kick down his door and beat him so badly he is running through the planes of oblivion with a sore bottom

I would suggest a large scale fight not lasting a long time but being hard to accomplish
Including requirements for
Well timed heals
Well timed blocks and use of special abilities for damage reduction
A veriety of different builds of players required to penetrate his defences

Set up a veriety of phases maybe 10 or 12
Where the boss has to be fought in a different way depending which phase it goes into
Make it only choose four of the many phases and make them pop up in random order

I would also suggest adding a sort of compression chamber to a raid
Breaking into his keep within a certain time frame relentlessly under attack all the way until your through the gates and in his living room

I would suggest rewarding players with more than just end game loot.

But make sure that players get a large benefit from doing the raids once
And remove the requirement for them to be farmed continiusly to recieve the best gear.
make them a challenge so it feals like its something you have to work hard to achieve.
something you don't have to go back and do but something you want to do with friends!

When I think of "The Elder Scrolls" I mainly think of dungeons.

But for a sub based game to succeed it needs good endgame, and raids are precisely that. I don't think 40 player raids would work unless it was a world boss, so I would like to see 10-20 player raid dungeons. I still don't know exactly what Adventure Zones will be, perhaps they are raids.

As long as PvP, small group and crafted equipment are comparable in stats, I have no issue with it.

While I don't think it's quite that stark a contrast, I definitely think they need some healthy pve endgame content for people like my wife who won't venture into Cyrodill. A strictly pvp endgame won't sustain the game long enough to justify the work that's gone into it up to this point.

Don't care

I'm not playing to raid.

I'm not playing to pvp.

I'm not playing to pve.

I'm playing to enjoy my free time.

Agreed, lets not turn this into the only way to obtain anything is to get into one of the super guilds and live your life around when the raids are available.

They said their ESO's system is different to conventional means lets see what they come up with before judgement is passed. And yes all gear should be equal.

Anything that provides a bigger PvE challenge is good in my book. I'd love to see some PvE sieges also. I mean, they already have the keep/siege system, would be cool if some of ESO raids included taking a keep from some well-scripted NPC defenders and then defeating some boss mobs inside.

Adventure Zones are "Raids" but not in the traditional sense. On release there will be 1 adventure zone.

An Adventure zone is basically a questing zone, or like any other area in the game, but all the encounters/quests/bosses and minibosses/dungeons are tuned for 12-16 people.

So rather than going Trash->Boss->Trash->Boss etc in the standard raid format. Its actually just a massive zone where the group can take on different quests as they please, and try out different dungeons which will likely include a bit of trash and a boss or two inside (but there would multiple of these dungeons in the area).

I see it like Zu'gurub from WoW 8 years ago, but on a much bigger and detailed scale, with active quests and events. You do stuff in the order you wanna do it and you choose what you want to do. Kinda like if Zu'gurub was the size of all of Stranglethorn Vale.

I think they said it was not fight against giant bosses but more like an troop of goblin warlords in Oblivion backed by an bad-ass mage or something.

Adventure zones will be more like an zone, where the end area will require an 12 man well coordinated group.

Thank, you described it far better than this one.

Never did the raid, did the level 85 dungeon many times, has some fear for it as it was the wipe-feast as random dungeon.

Isn't this a good thing? Aren't people tired of the same old format?. I remember i did one raid and that was enough for me. The same old routine etc gets old for me it does anyway.

All I know is I'm tired of every game turning into raid or die.

Even WoW stopped adding new group dungeons. Only new raids.

Freaking stupid.

Oh, so if I want anything to do at level cap that isn't PvP I need to go kiss the butt of 10 other people.

No thanks.

From what I've heard (from long-term beta testers), adventure zones include BOTH large group and solo/duo content. Which seems perfect to me.

But, even those long-term testers hadn't see one yet afaik, so it's still wait and see I guess.

But yeah. No raids = false, unless you perversely define raid in such a way as to exclude what that is.

Raids are just huge mindless dungeons, honestly I did some LFR the other day.

All I did was spam 1 2 3 and pop CD's when we weren't fighting trash, I got a belt that I already got 3 times in a row.

Honestly I don't see what kind of human even likes that kind of system, this is why I like Pvp at least you know that winning X amount will get you Y.

instead of a raid lol I hope I get my drop this week.

Problem is that for veteran points you need to do veteran dungeons or PvP, guess adventure zones also count here.

Note this is ESO endgame grind, yes you can do other stuff but they don't give veteran points. they might be fun or give gold on the other hand.
