Railroad random pvssyr in post game (Patriot death)

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 9:27 pm

I've noticed that whenever I help secure a check point, after the fighting is done, my Railroad buddies ONLY say things about Patriot. At first, I thought it was just luck of the draw, but I stayed back and talked to them several times over and realized that is all they say. I don't know if this is a bug I have or if this is the entirety of their post game dialogue, but either way it severely blows. Mainly because I'm not sure Patriot even died. I hit the general evacuation before I blew up the Institute and seeing as how he was supposed to be our man on the inside, I thought he'd get some kind of preferential treatment when we stormed the place, but apparently I missed him getting knelt down and shot in the head or something, because that's all anyone can talk about.

I hold out hope for a patch, or more likely a mod, to fix this because it is severely annoying when I'm trying to RP continuing the game and the NPCs are fixated so strongly on a death that might not have occurred (going to assume it did at this point). Anyone know if Patriot actually dies when you storm the Institute or upon blowing it up? Also, does anyone know if my Railroad dialogue is bugged or if this is working as intended? Thanks!

You can find a suicide note from Patriot.

He kills himself when he realizes what you're doing to his home, friends, and family.

Where is that at? Was it in the Institute?

Go back to the Railroad HQ, everyone should be in the center, circled around Patriot lying dead on a bed.

Just in case you felt too good about helping people.

Right?!?!

It wouldn't be an issue for me, I just wish they mixed up their pvssyr once in a while or if they talked about it, let it go after a week of in game time or something. I wish I could tell them I talked to Patriot and he wasn't quite the white knight they all made him out to be. He more or less helped synths as a game against his father initially. He was clearly only committed to the cause as a matter of convenience. Once s--- got real he was out real quick.

I think that's severely understating matters and underselling Patriot.

He was an idealistic kid and you probably killed most of his family and definitely destroyed his home.

I think we are basically describing the same person. Idealistic, but not fully aware of the severity of the situation. I personally sounded the general evacuation, so assuming that counts for anything, some of them got out, which might include his family. I think the fact that he took his life in the end shows that he was not on the same level as the Railroad at any point in time. Which isn't to say I was either truly. The only reason I was ever on board for blowing up the Institute was because I was convinced they were an existential threat to the Commonwealth I wanted to preserve. If that had not been the case, I don't know if I would have gone along with the wholesale destruction of the Institute. But to Patriot, the synths were not on the level of humans, which is clearly something the Railroad believes. I would waiver on that point myself, but they are sentient and they are being used as objects, which is slavery. I think Patriot wanted to do something but he was never convicted enough to actually put it all on the line, hence why you are warned not to let him know what the plan actually is throughout the whole mess. Really, the only people who know anything about Patriot are the Railroad higher ups. To everyone else, he is some shadowy figure who is assumed to be some daring, authoritative Messiah-like figure. When you get into the Institute and find out he is really a young man, it kind of made me nervous about the whole operation.

You are right in saying I shouldn't undersell him though. He was truly doing something noble and brave, and certainly no one else was stepping up to make those choices. I just think he might be painted in too noble of a light, which is something that does tend to happen in the wake of a tragedy.

I think Patriot thinks the Synths are human.

I just think he doesn't make the cognitive jump to, "So whatever stops slavery is worth it, especially if it kills slavers."

I think Patriot wants Synths to be free but not hurt the Institute.

Which, of course, isn't going to happen.

He could also be a pacifist--which will seem ridiculous to any Wastelander.
