Rain Effects inside your player-home...

I'm not sure why I was so stupid on this and it took me so long to figure it out. Apparently FO4's engine will give pretty much every object the slick shiny wet effect when it rains IF it is in an 'Outside World-space' and it will remain DRY if it is in an 'INSIDE World-space'. Unfortunately for us ALL player built homes are 'outside World-space'!

Again I am not sure why it took me so long to work this out but I will leave this revelation here for those that may NOT have figured it out yet:

Q) How do i know what is considered an 'Inside World-space'?

A) If you pass through a loading screen to enter a dwelling than it is an INSIDE World-space

So apparently until the Engine Editor or a possible DLC/patch comes out the ONLY customizable places our PC can live that will remain DRY are:

Home Plate in Diamond City

&

......wait is that it???????????

Anymore?

Really?

That's it?

WTF?

And yeah I did just spend a crazy amount of time and effort fixing up Covenant with the Spring Cleaning mod and some Console Commands to set it up as a nice place for my PC and a few named settlers/companions.

So what will we need ultimately...some sort of scripting thing where we can designate a certain zone as 'inside" or is this just unfixable with this game engine?

I wouldn't mind if Bethesda added some pre-fab player homes/rooms to the workshop that had a loading screen attached to them. Not only would it stop the weather, but it would also stop the settlers from going through your stuff.

In Bethesda games.. Places like the Diamond city home interior is a different cell.

That is why it does not rain inside..

It -could- rain if you set the weather in the CS.

Mournhold for instance is an Interior cell.

It does rain there because it's set to rain.

For this to work there would need to be an interior cell for each possible home.

OR

they could just use the part of Morrowind code patch that makes rain not come through -under a bridge it is not raining on me there for example.-

-edit-

Loading screen because you are entering another cell.

-edit-

I believe you pc users have a solution.. Someone posted me about occlusion in your graphics option..

Just tick that on... It should not rain on you inside your homes now.

Sadly, I checked and have no such option.

There is also a root cellar in sanctuary with a bed, radio and safe that is also an interior cell behind a load screen. Handy place to hide from radiation storms in the early game too.

It`s just a cosmetic problem. It has no effect on anything. It`s much better than to get loading screens each time you enter a house. May be it`s possible to fix it without adding cells, but I`m not sure.
