Rain

Well, they probably fixed it if only because it was such a laughed at problem. I swear they need a hindsight team to look at all of the silly mistakes in Oblivion like this and to make sure they don't happen again.

Only if fixing rain collision wouldn't interfere too heavily with their effort to code working ladders.

My answer is "sort of." If it passes through awnings or whatnot like the other games, I won't lose sleep over it. It'd be cool if it didn't, but still, not that big a deal next to, say, spears. (That was a joke, don't flame me). However, what I would like to see is a return to Morrowind in that when you moved through the weather in Oblivion, it moved with you so that if you jumped, the raindrops would change speed so that they were always in the same place proportional to you. In Morrowind, when you walked through the rain you walked through the rain and not alongside it.

I couldn't care less. It would be nice if it functions properly but really this is extremely low on the things I'd worry about. Maybe it's just because I grew up with the NES/SNES/PS1 console wise and played my siblings' old Intellivision too, but even Morrowind's graphics are so impressive to me I couldn't care less about something like this.

Properly functioning rain would be awesome, but it wouldn't detract from the game for me if it didn't. I'm spoiled by modern graphics, but not that spoiled as to let something so incredibly trivial affect how much I enjoy a game.

You know there are mods fixing that in Morrowind? If it occurs in Skyrim, there will be mods that fix it there, too.

If there are mods to fix it for Morrowwind that leaves little doubt that Skyrim will not suffer the same technical issue regarding rain. They did make sure to mention how snow layers onto terrain & objects already, I'm sure rain will react properly as well.

I think they've already said that they've fixed it, or with the snow anyway...

This hasn't happened in games for years. It's pretty much fixed now.

which games does rain not go through objects, assassins creed brotherhood went though, they just masked it with other effects

if can be done, but it takes a lot of processing power

It would be nice if they fixed it and I'm just guessing but I feel like they did.

The Morrowind Code Patch fixed the rain/snow issue nicely in Morrowind - mostly. It still has issues when you are standing under an overhang - where the precipitation will disappear entirely, even though you should be staring at it. Still, it's better than nothing.

I really hope this time the weather effects got a bump up. Proper weather effects can absolutely make or break the atmosphere (literally and figuratively!)

The bottom two poll options are pretty redundant.

And yes, I do care.

It happened in Oblivion because of the way they did rain.

Rain doesn't actually affect or exist in the game world. It is just an animation that was displayed on your screen. No matter where you went.

That's a petty/easy thing to fix. What I care more about concerning rain is if there will be splash effects, rain puddles, watery surface layers and such. You know, more new stuff that you expect for rain in modern games. Also wondering more if NPCs will be affected by rain/weather, like if they would take shelter when it's raining and complain about it.

The beggers in oblivion took shelter when it rained (like the ones in Cheydinhal who stood under the doorway at riverview) so i'd be surprised if the npc's in Skyrim didnt react to it in any way,
