Rains in building/ unrealistic water

Post » Thu Sep 22, 2011 2:41 am

video proof. : http://www.youtube.c...9ntoCxhGkw&NR=1 just look at about 3:30 Some say that it is the alpha build and a spell. (It is of course a shout and the alpha part is up in the air.) Others say, that while not a game breaker, it is an immersion breaker to see it rain through a stone building but feel it isn't a top priority. Some think it is likely fixed by now; while others, citing Bethesda's track record, claim it isn't going to be fixed. Most hope it is fixed and the rain from shout or natural weather flows as it should. It has been said that if a modder can hack the direct x in morrowind, and fix the rain; then Bethesda should be able to do it as well.

1. it is a dragon shout, not a spell.
2. We have no way of confirming whether or not there was a different build entirely, but it could be old judging by the way the Giant fell like a rock and in the new one so to speak he rag dolls, as it just as easily could be the last build. In the quake con video Todd completely avoids the building, did he do it intentionally? Given the volume of questions they must receive about just this one bug, is Pete also avoiding it?
3. This is e3 footage uploaded by IGN last week.
4. The water does not even run down the steps as you might see in bleak falls cave. There the water looks good.

So is the storm shout unrealistic intentionally? I mean yes we can use it with a roof over our head, but they could at least make it seem as if it was real. The devs say that snow falls naturally, why not water Beth?

5. You hate this thread, we don't care.

What's left to discuss? It was from alpha footage and we won't know of its been fixed until 11.11.11.

A Thread 2? There's nothing to discuss anymore.

People will just argue with is already stated in the OP (Pre-Alpha, Dragon Shout) or state "This will ruin my immersion!" or "I don't care!". Again, no discussion.

With all the questions going out to Pete Hines I assume he's been asked about this, is he intentionally avoiding this one?

That is the question. Are they intentionally avoiding it. Remember the quake-con footage? Todd jumped down instead of go down a level in the tower.

This is maddness! I thrown the thread out the window "throws a laptop out of the window." I think we all know by now its from a basic version plus its a shout. Shouts work differently

While rain through buildings is highly unrealistic and annoying, why does everybody complain about it? There are so many other things to discuss, it just doesn't seem such a high priority. I'm not saying that it's okay to have that, I'm just saying theres just so much you can say about it before it becaomes redundant. Okay, so there's rain through buildings. The footage showing that is old by now.

OP, it's time to stop this nonsense. You're lack of reasoning and accepting that it was an alpha build is just too much. So http://mylittlefacewhen.com/f/44/

Never said it was, never said it wasn't. Don't like the tread don't post in it. I also never got into the major argument, I merely supply the fuel.

It's a game. It can't be perfect.

Also we have only seen alpha footage, and they said it will not rain throught buildings.

That isn't entirely true. A game can possibly be perfect.

As for the last part, quote, link, video, blog, or something similar, or it did not happen.

Really? Also, I don't like the thread but I am going to post in it to clarify all of the misconceptions you have. Because there ARE people who are joining these forums who don;t know a lot of info and may mistakenly take your info as truth rather than fearful blathering. But really this didn't need a second thread at all.

I think it was just the shout because it would be hard to program something that you can use to cause it to rain anywhere to have perfect physics like the water in the streams and in caves.

considering a modder fixed it for Morrowind by hacking the DirectX code, I dont see why Bethesda cant fix it for Skyrim.

I'm confused, since the OP makes it totally clear there's absolutely no way to know for sure, so what is the reason for the thread again?

As far as Alpha build confirmation goes, most of the hands on previews from QuakeCon mentioned it was an Alpha build. With E3 being 2 months prior, that build was Alpha as well.
