So it rains inside the castle..

Post » Tue Jan 19, 2016 1:18 am

I was trying out using PA for a couple hours yesterday...got bored with that, and went to the castle to sleep a bit and talk to Preston...well when I arrived it was raining outside..I noticed rain trickling down the hud or whatever on my PA, and thought hmm nice touch...

Well when I walked inside the castle, the rain kept trickling down even though I clearly was out of the rain..slept for 3 hours, got back in my PA, and rain began showing up on my PA...went outside, and sure enough it was still raining...quite the oversight on bethesdas part considering they go through the trouble to add the effect, but can't make it not show up when you're out of the rain..

Anyone else notice that? Does it do it in other 'inside' areas that are part of the 'outside' world?

And, unrelated, but why do you still get the hud in PA even without equipping a helmet?

It does do it. Especially at settlements. It doesn't matter how may roofs you put on. It rains inside. Sheesh.

I noticed when you talk to someone indoors when it's raining outside, they still have the effect on them that makes them look soaking wet.

Are you on PC? There's a setting for rain occlusion that's on by default, supposed to keep the rain effect from clipping through ceilings. The wetness effect, though, is always on in rain regardless of if you have a roof over your head.

Someone wrote about the rain effect a couple of weeks ago.

Ever notice that how when you didn't notice something before, then it's brought to your attention, that from that point on, you can't ignore it?

The occlusion effect doesn't work with the Power Armor HUD.

You probably get the Power Armor HUD when not wearing a helmet because the Pip Boy is still unavailable.

PS4

I must have missed it...I just started playing around with PA recently, and never noticed it before..

Also like I said, I think it's odd that would be something overlooked..I mean whoever was in charge of adding the effect and not realizing to have it stop when there is a roof overhead...SMH..but eh, whatever..

it would be pretty funny if it still did that if you had some of those Real Harsh weather mods that the PC users get. something about the Heavy Rad Storms just killing you even when your "safe":)

yeah its weird I built a house just for me in a settlement and I still got rain and rads inside, after that moment I stopped giving a crap about where I sleep.

Nothing much changed since Morrowind. Other than that it usually didn't rain inside shops and buildings, since these were different cells. But it rained in the hallways of Vivec. I suppose that's because they still use the same engine. Vamped up, but still the same engine.
