Raise ncr reputation without doing any quests?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 1:31 am

HI!

I′m trying to raise my rep at ncr, right now it′s mixed, when wearing non ncr outfit, and neutral, when wearing ncr outfit. So I think that means that my real rep is mixed. Anyway, how can I raise my rep at the ncr when my current rep is mixed? I cant even get close to any ncr without getting shot at! The game says that mixed means "a little bit liked and a little bit not liked, they′re not sure how they feel about me" or something like that. But in reality it means that they dont like me, why else would they shoot at me?

Also, is it possible to raise my rep at the ncr WHILE wearing a ncr outfit? And can I raise my rep just by following some random ncr guys roaming around and killing whatever they′re killling or is the only way to raise the rep by taking quests?

I don't see why you couldn't raise your rep (i.e. doing quests) while wearing their uniform. Also, I think that NCR rep can be gained by doing quests for people like the Crimson Caravans - can you go there without being shot at?

I′ll check out check out crimson caravans to see if I′m welcomed or not :) Thanx for the tip!

I′ll managed to do a quest at bitter springs without getting shot at so I guess I should find places which arent ncr camps but still help me raise the ncr rep (like bitter spring and Crimson caravan). But I still need to do a couple of quests before my rep is raised from "mixed" to the next level ("liked"?, at which I hope they stop shooting at me) so if anyone knows where to go please feel free to share!

Camp Forlorn Hope has a number of quests...Bitter Springs too. My other thought is that maybe if Boone is with you it might help? He's former NCR. If your rep is too bad he may not follow though. Test that. Good luck.

First of all, at mixed reputation you should not be shot at. Seems like bug lot of people were posting: been shot at regardless of reputation.

Second: reputation does not work on one scale bad-good. It keeps track of both negative and positive ratings. Good actions will rise your status on positive scale but will not lower your negative scale. Look at the reputation ranks in manual. Mixed for example mean that you did little bit bad and little bit good. But it is not the same as neutral.

I got Boone and the flying robot following me :) I wouldnt let Boone go no matter what, he really can handle a sniper rifle but also a fire axe.

Bitter spring has a number of quests? I only found one, the one with the Great Khan guy in a cage. Guess I have to come back to that place.

You can gain NCR karma by killing Fiends and Legion.

I have an issue im not complaining about but this playthrough im doing a very evil character siding with caesar, and working against the NCR obviously but i havent killed any one of them directly, they still label me as villified but i can still do quest and go by them and i wont be shot at... Do i have to kill one before they will actually kill me? they still seem to know im legion since they say i got balls coming by them as they comment

Karma is not reputation. You can gain karma by killing them. You do not gain reputation.

I'd like to know this as well considering even when I'm Accepted or Idolized with NCR when I want to wear their armor it still brings me down to Neutral.

Errr...yeah, but I could have sworn by killing Fiends and Legion, I gained Legion infamy, and gained NCR fame, even out of quests. But maybe not...

Are you considered a "terrorist" because you've been doing the legion quests? If so, you will always be shot at no matter what so you might as well get used to carrying a disguise around.

You gain legion infamy by killing legion. They don't care about the Fiends.

Talk to Lt. Markland too. I was thinking of Boone's story and the one from Captain Gillies. :)
