RAM Drives

So apparently if you make a RAM drive and load Windows and Skyrim and all of your mods on there, you'd be able to run virtually as many mods as you wanted. This, because RAM is really, really fast in comparison to hard drive memory.

Here's the thread at which I found this nugget: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1305844-skyrim-8gb-12gb-or-16gb-of-memory/page__st__20__gopid__19737987#entry19737987

If anybody has any info, or wants to educate us all on how to go about doing this, please, comment here. I'm interested, and I'm sure others will be, too, in finding out more about this.

I haven't seen RAM drives used in that way in a while.

There was a guy on the HardOCP forum who had a ton of RAM and was playing with a RAM drive. He said it didn't make much difference (vs. an ssd) as far as loading times went.

You would probably be better off buying an SSD and installing your games there than fooling with a RAM disk.

I know my SSD loads Skyrim so fast I can't read the tips during loading.
