random acts of kindness..

Post » Sun Jun 01, 2014 4:00 am

I was on my way to the Grocery store to buy some Ingredients for a pie I'm making (Banana Cream), and on my way I saw a kid on the Sidewalk crying..

kid couldn't have been more than 8, so I stopped and asked if he was okay..

he told me it was his Birthday, and his Father bought him a new bike, but the bike stopped working..
I asked him where he lived and if he needed any help getting home, to which he told me he lived a few blocks down..

I was going to carry his bike home for him, but then I noticed all that was wrong with it was the Chain fell off..
So i fixed the Chain for him and he rode off in a happy mood saying thank you (nice kid.. people never say thank you these days, even when I hold a door open for them)...

I felt good I stopped and helped this kid, while others walked and drove past him not even giving him a second thought..

What are some random Acts of Kindness you have taken part in recently? and did you feel good about yourself for doing it?

I don't want to discuss them because it's not kindness if I want to get a benefit out of it. People who do nice things and blab about it are self-interested or narcissistic.

Well darn. You have discouraged me from ever sharing kind things I have done when someone asks.

One time I had $1-$2 of change in my pocket and when a presumably poor man asked for a quarter I gave it all to him. Wow WonderWombat you are just full to the brim with kindness! That is all I could think of. :P

Nothing wrong with that. What they don't know won't hurt them, and besides both parties benefit from it. Win-win, right?

I can't recall witnessing/participating in any acts of kindness recently. :cold:

Let not the right hand know...

But still, while I agree about trumpeting your own deeds, since thinking about kindnesses done is healthy, I think we can reasonably reverse the topic. Hows about kindnesses done to you or witnessed by you and done between other folk?

I was just down at our local market and saw a young fella purchase coffee for an old guy who had forgotten his wallet.

A few years ago, an employee of mine when I managed that market found $200 on the floor and held it for three days, finding out who the proper owner was and returning it to him.

When I come across idiots who deserve having their teeth kicked in -and don't succumb to the natural urge to do so, I feel really good about myself.
