Random crashes with FCOM and other mods.

I just finished a FCOM install, then added a few other mods and I'm gettings random crashes every 10 minutes. My computer runs the game on max settings easily so that's not the problem. But system specs anyways:

-intel Core i7 870 @2.93GHz
-16.0 GB RAM
-NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 1.2 GB RAM

I also Have Bomret's Shivering Isles Texture pack installed. And for UV 2/ Deadly Reflex; I deleted the skeleton mesh and animations from those because I disliked the head bobbing in first person. Not sure if that means anything.

I have not cleaned any mods with TES4Edit.

As for the FCOM install, I got that setup and the only other mod I installed was Alternate Start. I started a new game and then got to the Waterfront and walked around, it was fine. Then I installed all the other mods, and started a new character. Not everything was installed then, I later installed Trade and Commerce, and uninstalled/ reinstalled Deadly Reflex for troubleshooting reason.

The usual cuplit is "you have used up all your RAM".

System specs please, including OS.

Also, are you running Streamline and Oblivion Stutter Remover?

Are you using the 4 GB LAA patch?

Also, fix this please: "I have not cleaned any mods with TES4Edit."

In addition, can you revert to the original FCOm install (no extras), and go through Vilverin to make sure you do not run into missing meshes etc? If that works out, you would know that your FCOM install is stable, and there is some other mod causing the issue. Also, not sure, but are DR6 and UV2 fully stable? I had issues with DR6, and if you don't uninstall cleanly, there could be issues leading to crashes.

With 16 gigs of RAM I seriously doubt your running out of memory unless you have a virus on your computer. I still don't know how to install FCOM properly myself, but I do know that you can't install a whole list of mods at once with out testing each one individually against your FCOM install. My advice is this: 1. Uninstall Oblivion 2. Delete your Oblivion folder in the game directory as well as the one in the My Games folder in my documents. 3. Clean your registery 4. Install Oblivion ( If using windows 7 change the path from program files (x86 ) to ex: C:/games. or Wrye Bashe nor Oblivion + mods will play nice.) 5. At this point it might be a good idea to start Oblivion so that a new ini file will be created in your My games folder. Finish installing expansions with patches. 6. Might want to make a back up of your Oblivion folder. (optional) 7. Install wrye bashe along with any other utility you'll be using such as OBSE. Please make sure you use OBSE to launch Oblivion or your just asking for CTD. 8. Install FCOM . 9. Run wrye bashe to make sure all mod dependencies are accounted for. 10. Test your game. Make sure to exit cells and enter new areas to make sure the rest of Oblivion in running nice. 11. Install one mod at a time and test it against FCOM. Make sure wrye bashe isn't giving you any red flags. 12. Last install your texture packs. Maybe an expert on this can help more if I left anything out.

Independent topics like this one tend to be answered by helpful individuals, but not always by those with working knowledge. This often leads to confusing or incorrect information being given.
It's also a complete nightmare for people using the search engine when they get 500 plus hits for the mod.

If there's an active thread for a mod, then please use it.

your biggest problem is probably the crash prevention system.

it corrupts saves and makes them crash.

remove that and start a new game, it should make a big difference.

For Fearsome Magicka you'll also need RefStuff OBSE plugin.

Fast Exit can go too, as that functionality is built into OSR.

You have to manually start streamline's ini changes by typing a console command. I forget the command, but it is in the readme, as well as the last line of the ini file.

Thanks a lot guys. One last question; do I need to worry about any Tweak settings in my bashed patch? For example I want to use Irresponsible Creatures, VaderApp's Oblivion Real Bodies Skeleton Tweaker, and Real Walk for NPCs under Tweak Actors. Or Bow Reach Fix under Tweak Assorted, and or Arrow Speed under Tweak Settings.

Will changing any of those things conflict with FCOM or are some already in FCOM?

irresponsible creatures is made of win.

VORB and real walks, no idea.

bow reach fix, always use it ( along with some other fixes the name of which eludes me now. read the description and it should be clear: if it solves possible issues in mods, use it )

arrow speed is already included in FCOM iirc ( should be part of Francesco's ) .

Nvidea fog fix if using a Nvidea card too. Although you can apply that to mods individually.
