Random crashing apparently fixed

Have been fighting since installation to keep this game running.

Am not a high end system by any means, but should have enuff hardware to run this game.

1 gig GTS 250 for video.

Read tons of posts, tried tons of things, updated to the latest nvidia drivers (x2 was hoping the new new one would make a difference).

Was running at medium settings, with all the AA and AF off and all the effects turned down/turned off.

Played last night for around 90 minutes, CTD probably a dozen times, had to reboot computer at least a dozen times.

Read somewhere that somebody could run in windowed mode, but not full screen.

Pick the largest windowed resolution available. Played for 20 minutes no crashes.

Ran all the display stuff up to "ultra".

Played another 30 minutes last night and about an hour today-ZERO crashes.

Would like to get to the bottom of what is going on, but screwit.

Am going to keep playing "windowed" and keep my fingers crossed...

I'm glad to hear that you've managed to solve your issues by running in Windowed. I recall that running in Windowed for FO3 in my case alleviated many crashing issues.

Unfortunately for me, I've been playing New Vegas exclusively in Windowed mode, and my crashing only seems to be growing worse and worse with every passing minute. =/

For people looking for a fix: Windowed mode is definitely worth a try. Just don't expect it to be your magical cure-all, because it might not be.

And if you do not already know. There is a mod out at fallout new vegas Nexus that will let windowed mode emulate full screen. You might want to look for it.
