Random CTDs -NO MODS- Help much appreciated

Post » Sat Aug 17, 2013 2:00 pm

I just built my PC 3 weeks ago and it runs great. Played a dozen games without problems.

Specs: EVGA GeForce GTX650TI Boost Superclocked 2gb Video Card

8 GB RAM

Win 7 64 bit

I installed Skyrim Legendary and played it right away on Ultra (reccomended) The FPS was smooth. 30 minutes in it CTD. Keep in mind, no mods or anything like that. I tried it again on High. Crashed yet again.

I tried installing some mods that supposedly prevented CTD and helped stability but to no avail. I even tried it on low and it crashed eventually.

Other fixes I tried are changing the sound settings to low CD quality. I tried turning off all other programs including steam and anti-virus. I tried unselecting the DLCs and it still would crash.

The crashes are random. I can be in a room, in combat, it doesn't seem to make a difference.

I think that covers all of the info. All help would be much appreciated.

That's not a solution to prevent CTD's !!!!!

After you have installed those mod's have you disabled them and created a new character ????

-------------------------------

Have you installed the unofficial patches for skyrim and your DLC's (if you have them...).

Have you checked your BOSS load order for any conflicts or warnings ???

-------------------------------

btw what's your CPU and at what resolution do you play ???

AMD FX-6300 6-Core and I run 1920 x 1080

I tried the unofficial patches and I didn't think I needed BOSS when I had zero mods...

Good call! "1 files failed to validate and will be reacquired." But nothing will happen. I just reinstalled it and this is what it said after I verified game cache.

Verifying the Game Cache, usually finds 1 file, its not the problem.

Post a dxdiag report. It might be a driver problem or similar.

I'm up to date on all of my drivers it seems. Are you sure this game cache isn't the problem? I've seen other posts on steam saying their game CTD randomly and steam is telling them the same thing?

That one file is the installation script, that's normal.
