Random dragons so annoying

Post » Tue Sep 06, 2016 8:27 pm

Those random dragons are worse than those flying creatures in Morrowind. I've just finished Mzulft and am loaded with so much dwemer stuff I can barely waddle. I'm trying to get to Riften as the nearest place I can offload it and take a carriage back to Winterhold. But even with a long term invisibility spell every time I make the attempt a dragon attacks and not near any convenient shelter I can duck into. At least those birds were fightable even if you were in the open.

Dragons seem to be attracted to heroes who are overburdoned with loot... I've always found that to be a good reason to buy a horse (or learn how to summon a ghost horse). Depending on your character, if you're mounted you can get away or even manage to fight your way clear. From Mzulft, I like to lure dragons to that Giant camp that's nearby or the hunter's camp.

A lot of Dwemer stuff is crap when evaluated on a dollars-per-pound basis.

That said - dragon aren't an awful occurrence once you hit maybe level 15, at least not on standard difficulty.

Yes, but there were seventeen million billion more of them per square foot.

Wow, that's some real Hitchcock material right there.

Dollars? Pounds? Are we playing the same game?

Dragon spawns have nothing to do with level or difficulty, unless we're talking about dragon type and how strong they are. The amount is always the same.

Weeeellll.... That would depend on the mods you have installed. I've found myself fighting s many as three dragons at once near Bonestrewn Crest (Is that the right name? Eh, dunno.... :) ) and I've had one or sometimes two random spawns while fighting Salokhnir. I never have Deadly Dragons set to spawn more than one at a time, but that doesn't seem to discourage it occasionally.

I'm not sue what you mean.

Didn't say anything about the amount. I was just pointing out that a dragon encounter is a real problem at level 3 - but not at level 30.

He's referring to value-per-weight ratio.

He seemed to be confused by thei terms dollar and pound, however.

He was making a point that there are neither dollars nor pounds in Skyrim, nothing more.

Yeah, I've been avoiding the Main Quest because of the random Dragon attacks for five playthroughs now. I take Alvor's/Gerdur's message to the Jarl and then I won't go to Bleak Falls Barrow until I have the desired gear, spells, skills and the like for the current build. It does get a bit weird when citizens talk about Dragons appearing all throughout Skyrim even though the skies are clear of those beasts, but at least I won't be losing important NPC-s to their attacks.

its not a random attack if you are close to word wall, the dragon dose not just defend its lair but all the surrounding area

its not a random attack if its a named Dragon (Nahagliiv, Mirmulnir ext)

its not a random attack if its quest related

Random Dragon attacks usually happen by default every 3 Skyrim days & up to 30 days (not sure about that second number, will have to pull out her notes to confirm that one)

what will trigger an random dragon attack is fast travel or carrying to much and walking your way to a town or city

if you have a disease or two and you have like a -25% to all melee attacks or some thing like that & no way of healing your self

if for some funny reason you remove a vital part of your armor ......and have not noticed that you have not put it back on......like the helmet & you lose all the matching Set bonuses from the Armor skill trees.

if you have to escort some one .....has any one noticed that there is a big chance of a dragon attack 50/50% at Riverwood when you arrive there with Esbern

Diplomatic Immunity .....once you change into your party costume and give away all your weapons a dragon will attack if you hang around to long and don't go to the Thalmor Embassy, YES there is a word wall close buy but have tested the theory by taking him out first and still you will get a random attack

PS 1........you get 2 dragons when any parts of the 2 above sections overlap Most common situation is #1 from the blue section overlapping with #1 from the white section

PS 2 .......you can do Bleak Falls Barrow & get the stone ...............the dragon part of the game starts ONLY after you deliver the stone ..............so go and collect as many words of power you can before this, some lairs are a killer especially if they are guarded by legendary dragons .......you get the word and all the loot from the chest with out having to fight the dragon, ..........you can collect around 60% of the words of power even before you kill your first dragon .............the rest of the words are quest related

Not quite. The random Dragon attacks start after we have killed Mirmulnir.

crossi, if you're on pc, just get mods to fix stuff. If you're on console.... um.... my condolences?

["flying creatures in Morrowind" == cliffracers....]

[[Oh, btw.... Mzulft doesn't ever respawn I think - so you can just stash stuff somewhere there, and go back and get it later....]]

thank you Lady Selene for the correction

giggles ........Mirmuinir is part of a quest called Dragon Rising & only activates once you deliver the stone......so to start any dragon encounters (quest or random) you have to deliver the stone first, that's all I was trying to say for ppl who avoid BFB for that very reason ...........you can have the stone up to level 100 if you like and nothing will happen

its a matter of perspective that's all .............but I do still agree with what your saying

Precisely.....Gram has it totally wrong :P

You can't assume Skyrim stuff is American just because Bethesda are

Its actually measured in "Pounds Sterling" and "Kilograms" :meh:

While we are at it.....for those who persist in transfering other game values into Skyrim....

There is ZERO Mana in Skyrim......in fact there is no MANA in Elder Scrolls period

But there is plenty of MAGICKA

There....I'm glad we got that straightened out......carry on :)

Omg that's so true. I even made a teleport spell to try to avoid them but they followed me by air. By the Nine, they were annoying.

LOL Oh yes we can :meh:

Skyrims medical system is based on either religious faith, mystical hocus pocus, paying way too much for a genuine cure, or ingesting something before you know what the effects are.

There's also a zillion types of wines and brewed alcoholic beverages, milk... and no tea.

*totally American* :P

And - you can use the console to disable random dragons:

set mq106turnoffrandomdragons to 1

[That has to be input at the start of every game session - I used to have a batch file I ran at startup; that was before I began using Skyrim Unbound, and never playing dragonborns....]

*laughing* Good one, bonedog!

Hey! Being an American, I have to say that I resemble this remark! :D

Well it looks like everybody agrees with Gram then....Skyrim actually uses American currency and mensuration. Jeez!

You'll be telling me next the treaty is called "The White House Concordat"

WAIT! if it's an American game-world monetary system, are we using caps instead of dollars?
