I got the GOG version so it's all patched up with official patches and I also got the... I can't remember what it's called, but the one that I've always heard is totally essential. The one that makes it OK to play with a modern processor, so the map travel isn't like WEFKJAOESEFPEboop.
Either Killap or TeamX or Timeslip or something... I always mix up those three mod makers (for Elder Scrolls and Fallout alike... I think.)
Anyway, I just more or less finished Vault City. I mean, I have to nab booze for whats-her-name and deliver some suitcases and scout NCR but those entail going to other places, so "for now" I'm done VC.
I got the car... and it only seemed to make clearer that I think I get too many encounters.
I mean, when walking it was manageable more or less, just walking from Arroyo to Klamath to the Den to whatever. But going to the Den to find Woody, then going a really long way back to Vault City, down south to the raiders... I'm getting encounters pretty much every 3-4 squares if I'm unlucky in the car! Sometimes it'll go like six and then sometimes I can avoid the encounters with my skills, but it's just getting annoying. Is it my luck? It's only 4.
I can still play, but I do a TON of reloading if I find 10 highwaymen half-way up my butt after 3 squares.
Thanks everyone.
PS: I'm playing FO2 now because a) I loved FO1 and B) so far it's awesome and has a ridiculous amount of quests, and c) because I think New Vegas could have some tips of the hat to FO 1+2 players, so I want to make sure to understand all of the easter eggs and/ or references.
