No matter how large the game, interest will wane after a couple of months and forum activity will significantly decline. Only the most dedicated of players are going to stick around after the initial shine wears off, and despite the size of Fallout 3 the initial shine didn't last any longer than it does for any other game. You're kidding yourself if you believe that the average player explores every dungeon and does every side quest; heck I don't, and I'm actually a fan of the series.

The New Vegas forums are actually doing quite well considering that it's been quite a few months since its release.

Yah but also consider the amount of people getting bored of it.

The Fallout 3 world isn't as crowded as some people make out. The DC wasteland is pretty empty really, just not as deserted as NV. What makes the world more interesting is the random spawn lists instead of placed actors. You never know what you'll meet. I've been replaying FO3 and for fun I thought I'd walk with the slaves all the way from the Temple of the Union to Lincoln's Memorial. I expected it to be really boring, but it was actually quite entertaining. Along the road a wastelander suddenly ran past us and while we were wondering what his problem was a Deathclaw came over the ridge after him, which caused a bit of panic in the party and the death of the old institutionalized ex-slave feller. A bit further up the road we found Crazy Wolfgang and his caravan dead, with no visible cause (maybe he got in the way of the Deathclaw chase). Later we encountered a bunch of slavers escorting a slave, who we liberated, and further along some Tallon mercs came after us. There were distant explosions going off regularly - the game world is still randomly active out of sight of the PC.

Play through NV a couple of times and you'll know exactly what's going to be patrolling in every location, making fast travel pretty much a necessity to to stop the terminal tedium. There's also the problem that most of the side quests are somehow connected to the main quests; so if you want to see all the companion quests, for example, you have to go through the main quest multiple times just to trigger them. You can completely ignore the main quest in FO3 (which admittedly isn't that great). I rescued Dad, left him working on Project Purity and forgot all about him.

I played the originals and had fun but wasn't overly impressed even back then. Fallout 3, on the other hand, blew my socks off and then slapped me about the face with them.

Yes but doesnt matter thats not the point. You take these select group of people of like 400 or so and if half of them say its boring then you can get a rough understanding of how much other people think its boring.

What? Where has anyone said that half of the fans think the game is boring? And I mean all of the fans, all the millions that bought the game, compared to that, even if thousands of people are bored, that isnt anything, i want legitimate proof that over half of the millions of people that bought the game are bored with it.

Dude its statistics deal with It. Most statistics are correct to. You take a small group of people so you can get a ROUGH understanding of how many people like some thing or so on.

Some are. And these arent real how are you not getting this!!! im saying a example. OMG. You take a group of people ok. You survey them and see who thinks its boring or not and if half of them say that the game is boring then you get a ROUGH understanding of how many people that think it is boring.

What statistics?
Any link, proof, real statikstics

thats pure subjetive

The polls varies in the internet

Go and watch the NMA poll about what games is better

Not even New Vegas won a this point

neither FO3

There is a large fandom

But not all of them care about registering on a forum and say what is better

Fallout 3 can have better scores and awards, some people just dont care about this, but Fallout 3 is not a good game IMO

New Vegas was criticized, but we could care less about that, we play games to judge it for ourselves, not just because some critic told me to do so

Statistics svcks, they never show the real facts, they are purely subjective, like opinions, but in numbers and percentages instead of word

You get a very, very rough idea. When you are dealing with millions of people that bough the game you need to ask hundreds of thousands of people that question. No just a couple dozen people on one forum on the world wide web. Have you asked hundreds of thousands of people that question? Have you seen any research done were hundreds of thousands were asked?

For example an election: If 20 people are asked who are you going to vote for X or Y. 11 people vote for X, does that mean Y should just "deal with it" and give up? When there are still millions of people left to vote.

The Fallout fanbase is very huge, we exist much even before Bethesda bought the IP

Some people believe that Fallout 3 was "the reason of why Fallout is popular"

Where is the proof? And no, the facts that they reached to consoles doesnt means "more popularity"

Fallout was popular back in the Black Isles days if not controversial

Fallout 3 just helped to be more acknowelge by other people if not hyped at the same time

Ok then where are you getting these "statistics and facts"? You say you are not talking about just a dozen or so people. So I ask again WHERE are you seeing these people in very large numbers? Show me a link, so me something then just things you pull out of your butt. Opinions are not facts. Someday maybe they will but I hope to be long dead when that day happens. I am aware of one topic "are you bored with Neww Vegas" and last I checked there can't be more then a couple dozen people that responded to that topic and not all are saying yes. That one topic is not the proof that millions agree :banghead:

he's right, yo ucan't throw out "stats say x" and not show legitimate proof. I can do what you just did by saying over half the people that bought FO:NV liked it over FO3. since statistics are always right this is fact.

You know something, I got bored of Fallout 3 at the same year I bought it, But thats not a fact, and just because there is a large ammount of people who agree with me doesnt means that is a fact, is still an opinion, stop acting like everyone has right when people says that NV is boring, when FO3 it is too for some other people

AGAIN

Statistics are PURELY SUBJECTIVE, IT VARIES FROM WEBPAGES!

I get the part about getting a rough idea by asking some people. You said its more then a couple dozen people. I asked ok show me where its more then a couple dozen people. You have yet to show me. You have also said "Dude its statistics deal with It." I point out that some very small sample group proves nothing.

There it was at least 2 statistics about FO3 vs NV

one in NV forums

the other in the FO3 forums

The one here said that NV is better

The one in the FO3 forums says that FO3 is better

I said that FO2 is better

You catch the drift?
