Random lists are so Frustrating

I spent the last couple days doing half-hour-ish merchant reset marathons in Riften trying to get my hands on a pair of boots of muffle, only to give up and go exploring. First "boss" chest I hit in Silent Moons Camp, what's there? Steel Boots of Muffle. :stare:

Least I have them I guess. But boy is it frustrating sometimes. Now if only I could enchant Mich's belted tunic with muffle instead of having to add something to her feet.

I'm torn between "that makes sense because those boots really need that enhancement" and "wouldn't it be easier just not to wear the clattering boots?"

The Muffle Boots seem to be one of the hardest items to come across. I found mine before I knew how rare they were. Lucky I kept them around. I have never seen another pair since, of any armor type.

It is weird that the Muffling enchantment is applied to boots that are loud to begin with, seems counter productive. At least the Fortify Sneak is applied to boots that would normally be quiet (not sure about the Imperial Boots)

I love having muffle on my boots. Every time I start a new game I'm worried I'll find a merchant that actually has a pair for sale, but I won't be able to afford it. More than once I've had to run out and try to make enough coin to afford them before the merchant's inventory resets.

Yeah, Muffle starts with Dwarven at player level 11, according to the UESP. They also mention that as your level rises your chances of encountering them lessens, eventually becoming next to impossible. I've had them many of times, but reverted to an early save without them. I'm thinking about enchanting "foot wraps" with muffle. They have the same pitter-patter as bare feet. :D

There is a fixed location with muffled hide boots. Preditor's Steps I think they are called. They are in Hag's End. But those, like all the other non-generic type, can't be disenchanted.

That's good to know about the diminishing odds of finding a pair as you level up. I'll be staying at level 11 until I find one. Thanks for the heads-up:)

Keep 1000 septums on you. You'll have more than enough to buy them without racing to beat the reset. :D

I'm gonna try to keep a reserve of gold on me, but I'm weak and impulsive.
