Random naked NPC mages?

Post » Fri Nov 18, 2016 8:40 pm

I've been having a bug for awhile, occasionally I'll run into random NPC casters (un-named / generic) That have robes in their inventory, yet they don't have them equipped for whatever reason. They have their other inventory items equipped (weapon, helmet) just not the robes, It seems to happen fairly often.

Some mods I have installed:

Eotw mage ropes (which is now hidden apparently on Nexus?)

Clothing and clutter fixes

Immersive Creatures + high level enemies

Immersive Armor

Ordinator

Duel Combat

Combat Evolved

ASIS

Automatic Variants

I have created a Bashed patch and skyproc patches

Not sure if this is related?

too many mods modifying their outfits ?? check in tes5edit. clothing and clutter fixes and Immersive armors both modify default outfits i think.

Mentioning Bashed patched patch tells me you're on PC, so you can check their inventory with the console command "Showinventory" and it should indicate whether their robe is worn, or outfit, or both (as intended). If it's neither, then track down the mod that changed the outfit.

I'd suspect that a mod changed an outfit definition to allow a follower to be better controlled, rather than giving them a different outfit. That then affects all NPC's using the same outfit.

Well after I kill them, it shows they have their hood and weapon equipped, but not their robe, it's in their inventory but un-equipped... my best guess is something to do with clothing and clutter fix as it splits up robes and hoods... again it doesn't always occur, only sometimes. for example I killed a "Witch" and this was the case, she is wearing her hood but not robe.. I am using PC. I will try and see if it's a specific robe type or npc type.

I read that link in my initial post, but I can't really make sense of the problem solution they describe.

I have zero mods that modify the appearance of NPCs, and yet, yesterday while strolling through Whiterun, two town guards come walking by in their underwear.

I followed them into the guard Barracks and they were then fully clothed upon entering.

The only NPC altering mods I have are immersive citizens and realistic convos.

Perhaps something caused by the recent patch?

NPCs have inventory items and outfits. Outfits are a packaged collection of one or more clothing items. Clothes in the inventory are generally not worn (unless there's mod intervention), while outfits are.

The link is talking about a leveled list, which in this case dynamically generates an outfit from a list of possible clothes. If an outfit is generated with only a hood, for example, or it has a hood plus a robe that no longer exists, then you'll get a naked NPC. It's the mix of OBIS and CCF that causes this particular issue. OBIS is adding a robe to the list that CCF has deleted. If that robe is chosen when the outfit is randomly generated, you get a naked NPC.

Any mix of mods that alter the leveled lists in incompatible ways could create the same problem. A bashed patch wouldn't fix this, and you'd have to make a manual patch for it--either remove the deleted item from the list or add it back.

Hello,

How/where do I go about doing this? when in TES5edit do I need to remove it from OBIS, CCF, inside the levels lists of the bashed patch?

Changing OBIS is probably the way I'd go. I'd be tempted to remove it from the Bashed Patch, but the next time you rebuild it, you'd lose the change. Making a whole new patch is a good future-proof option, too. That's probably the smartest way, but I hate having a whole plugin for such a tiny change.

The only issue with removing it manually from OBIS is that you'll have to remember to redo the change when you update the mod.

So I guess:

Smart option = make your own patch

Easy option = change OBIS

I'm assuming that the Bashed Patch will get updated more frequently than OBIS, otherwise changing it there is the better option.

I need to open up TES5Edit to give instructions. I'll reply back in a couple of hours unless someone else does first. :)

I opened up OBIS, went to item level lists, under the warlock ropes I removed the "hooded robe" entries added by OBIS... hopefully that was the way to do it.

That sounds right. If you're still having trouble let us know. Also, TES5Edit makes a backup when you do edits, so worst case you can always revert to that, though this is a pretty simple change that will probably do what you want.

BTW, you'll need to rebuild the Bashed Patch now, too.
