Random Quest Mod Translation Request

Post » Sat Feb 22, 2014 6:24 pm

I have found a few days ago a mod called "RandomQuests" from a old japanese blog. I have taken a look to it and it is very interesting, adding a lot of simple infinite dynamic quests about searching for items/ingredients/books/etc and find & kill NPC and monster missions. I was going to translate it to english but the scripts (were is most of the text to be traduced) have references and variables in the middle of the text. That is beyond my knowledge and I am afraid to break something if I start to change lines.

So I was wondering if there is somebody with enough script editing skills to translate it from japanese to english. It should not take much time to do it, and the reward will be a mod with infinite misc quests to all the cities (except kvatch).

Here it is a download link of the mod:

The best way to translate it is this in my opinion:

http://www.tanos.co.uk/jlpt/extras/jwpce/

To translate the text just copy it from the CS into the JWPce so it automatically will change to the traditional japanese alphabet, then copy it again into any online translator, it should not take too much time to translate the whole mod.

Here it is a video I found in Youtube about the mod:

Hope somebody might be interested into take a look at this as this mod could be a nice addition to our modded Oblivion.

Thanks!

The scripting language is in Japanese or is the story text (dialog, journal entries etc) in Japanese and the scripting is in English? If that is the case, then it should be rather easy to make this happen. Just replace the Japanese characters with English text. If the scripts are in Japanese, that's going to be tricky.

The dialog and journal entries are in japanese (that is the easy part). The scripts are in english except the messagebox text and that kind of stuff (there are plenty of them). The problem is that the japanese text in the messagebox and so on have references and special (in other colors) code in the middle of them. For somebody with a little script skills should be easy to translate it using the program above.
