Don't use it much but now I had the perfect task for it, raider on top of an 3 floor building, hitting the structure on top or the roof would kill quest target.

Sneak until quest marker said 30 meter, use fatman, aim high and shoot, bomb go off far to low and target unhurt and all the raiders alerted.

Mirv is even more hopeless in range but that is understandable as its bomblets.

Still fatman would be much better if it had more range, less than 30 meter is too short.

I don't know what the range is, but it sure FEELS weak. While it is sometimes depicted as a 'catapult' that throws a bomb, I could swear I read some terminal somewhere that explained that the nuke bomb itself had some kind of propulsion (just not enough on its own). It's also hard to aim accurately --- you have to "lob" it to get any distance, meaning you're "aiming" waaaay higher in the air than your target is.... I try to use VATS but I'm usually so far away that my VATS percentage is kind of low. Still, one would think that with a nuke you could get by with being "close enough".

I haven't tried it but wonder if the perk that shows Arc of grenades and where they will land would work with Fatman? would be nice

I'm hoping someone makes a mod of that. Make it a weapon mod for the Fatman/Missile Laucher/Broadsider


EDIT: Or make it a power armor head upgrade "Targeting Computer"

I had an mod in Fallout 3 who made the fatman fly far more like the rocket launcher, made it much more useful.

they really need to make it so even the tiniest piece of cover doesn't make you immune to it

was taking out outpost zimonja a few nights ago, when dumb preston decided he'd hero the place himself, watched 3x mini nuke explosions on him but not only did he survive he was undamaged

why? well he was crouching behind a tree! lmao!
