So I've been playing the multiplayer a good bit, and got to rank 9... only to be demoted to rank 6 for no reason. I wasn't too happy about that but I continued playing. After I got to rank 10, I was demoted to rank 6 again. I'd really like to know what the hell is happening and why I keep getting demoted. It's starting to get reallly frustrating now.

Are you sure you're playing in Ranked servers? I've been playing quite a bit tonight after the 'serial code currently in use' crap went away, and Ranked servers are not populated at all in my experience. If you're doing quick match, and you select ranked, it will put you in a ranked server but I guarantee you'll be the only player in the lobby.

Unranked works fine. What happens is, the game will tease you with your rank. When you mouse over "Ranked" and "Unranked" in the multiplayer menu, you'll notice that one of the differences is that in Ranked mode, your experience actually counts toward your rank advancement. In unranked mode, it doesn't.

So, when you play a few unranked games, the system will falsely inform you that you've ranked up, and it will change the number next to your playercard according. However, after you've logged out and logged back in (or restarted the game - I'm not sure which), the game realizes that you were playing unranked matches the whole time and so it demotes you back to the rank you had before you started playing in those unranked games.

I'm pretty sure this is what's going on. That would explain why you're getting demoted back to level 6 and not level 1 - because you've played a few ranked matches, but when you play unranked it teases you with a promotion and then demotes you back to where you should be due to the fact that the experience you earn in unranked mode does not actually increase your rank.

There are various programming issues in the game such as this one that need fixed. Ranked mode needs fixed because no one is playing it for some reason (I don't know if that's because everyone is choosing unranked or because they run into the same issue I do when they join ranked servers - there's no one there).

Let's hope the fixes come soon. This game is very fun but the plethora of bugs are quite off-putting, especially considering this is Crytek we're talking about.

That seems to be a reasonable answer cept I have yet to play on a rank server yet my rank resets back to 3 (3 lvs on a non rank server), and his to 6.
