Rare book issue remaining after 1.9

Post » Tue Apr 09, 2013 3:20 am

Hi there, I tried to search for a post on this but as of yet could not find one so decided I would venture to make my first post on these boards.

I got home this evening and was exctied to see the install for the 1.9 patch as I had read in advance from some PC users and all the blurb that issues with regards to handing in rare books was fixed. Unfortunately I still have this issue in my game, post 1.9 install, with the book Cimarvamidium.
I picked up a copy of the book in a chest before accepting the quest (in Rebels Cairn during a quest relating to the Red Eagle) and then again before accepting the quest was able to purchase a copy of a book of the same name (presumably the different version) from Urag gro-Shub himself.
When he gave me the quest to find the book the quest marker showed as Rebels Cairn but obviously the book is no longer there, is in my posession (shows as two copies of the same book) and can not be placed and retaken from the chest as it is a quest item. After 1.9 this is still the same case.

Has anyone else encountered the same or a similar problem that has not been fixed? Anyone got any advice that may be of use?
If it helps I am currently level 42 and have another outstanding quest for Urag relating to Shalidor. Going to try and do that next just incase that triggers a fix. Either way it is not game breaking, just a shame as I have 2 copies of the book stuck with me at all times.

The conditions that cause a quest to get borked can be fixed by a patch, however once those conditions have been put into your save, then a patch is probably not going to fix this. I never had the issue with the Chim Book in this game.

As for the Radiant Quest putting the book in a dungeon, are you sure it is not there? The game can in fact put the quest object back in a cave that it previously used for another radiant quest. Which is why it is recommended to save before you ask for any Radiant Quests.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

Yeah I have been back to the cave in question but sadly the chest in question is empty.
I guess I hoped the fix would be a means of telling the game I already had the book so I was not aware that it would unlikely get fixed by the glitch. That is fair enough though, like I said it is not game breaking.
It is just a shame as I was going through a second playthrough and hoped not to have any issues as I did last time. I guess I will have to just live with it.
