Rated T?

Post » Sun Aug 29, 2010 8:59 pm

I hear that SD is going to try and make this as family friendly as possible to come out with a rated T game
I think thats cool and all but I can think of two issues
1: compromises a couple gameplay elements
2: lots of squeakers

for those who don't know, squeakers are children, usually under the age of 12, who play online video games and tend to be rude and obnoxious, scream into their mics, and play poorly

on the other hand, rated M or not, most children who want to play this game, will anyway.

Also, VOIP is off by default, but I intend to play with VOIP on. And I would prefer not to have some little kid screaming into my headset.

Not just one.

If you look at the last gameplay vids, they still have a decent amount of blood spatters. They did reduce foul language I heard and they aim at T to reach a larger public.

No, would you like this game to have a smaller community? or have PLENTY of people to play with and just put up with a few squeakers? (As it turns out there is a mute function so don't complain about vocal annoyances.)

Actually, rating it T might get rid of squeakers, since, when I was 12, my peers refused to play Battlefront with me simply because it was rated T, and thus, a "[censored] game"

Brink doesn't seem like a family friendly game with all the violence. And since they got violence already I think they should keep the gore and foul language.

Frankly, I don't care what the game is rated. I say the same thing to every "squeeker" out there. "Man up, let your balls drop, find something better to do in your life, stop swearing every five seconds."

I think I can only tollerate one or two little kids who are roughly 13-14 and that's mainly because they are more mature when playing games. As an example, my friend, one of the kids and I were playing Halo and even though the kid failed he didn't yell or whine or went "PWNED [censored]!" like my friend and I were doing, but at the end the only thing he said was "I can do better." Of course most of the time he was laughing because my friend and I like to have conversations as we gain streaks.

Ah battlefront, that was a fun game, but why make a game filled with death and destructive less gory just to have kids play that we dont want and making a war game "family freindly" is like making porm family freindly, i say, lets make it as "family freindly" as duke nukem is! BRING ON THE GORE!

rate it teen, rate it mature, result is the same, there'll be as much -18 on in both.
difference is: for once pretty much everyone will be legal.
and they might not learn a few new words to yell at their teachers/parents

edit: "making a war game "family freindly" is like making porm family freindly"
oh... like fairy tales? i mean, those were for those in puberty, teaching them about what they needed to know in a friendly, not so awkward way. they were a lot more messy and about six you know...

Dunt kare, i want gore, screw the kiddies, and i dont like alot of random un needed cursing but completley removing it is a dumb idea, what if its needed, like in a cutscene theres a bomb and a guy says " HOLY [censored] ASS CRACKERS THERES A BOMB " not saying its needed, but i perfer if there is some.

Honestly, I don't get why people insist on adding Language to a game. Gore I get, but Language? If you honestly NEED to hear people swear constantly, you have issues.
Not saying I have anything against language, just people that think a game is less cool because it lacks it is just pitiful in my honest opinion.

remember the rating also determines where and when the game can be advertised

1: compromises a couple gameplay elements

You never explained where a T rating would compromise anything.

2: lots of squeakers

This a completely moot concern. You think having an M rating would reduce the amount of little kids playing? MW2 and Halo would like a word with you...
