Rating 18

What makes the rating 18 (in contrast to Oblivion's 15) ?
I'd rather be allowed to buy it and, if the game is 18 as a result of massive violence, then, I won't be able to buy it.

That's unfortunate. Lots of things you can't do until your 18.

Although I'm quiet sure I managed to watch movies and play games I should have when I was a youngun.

Unknown right now other than more realistic blood effects and finishing moves, perhaps there will be stronger language and with the addition of marriage sixual references only make sense.

Also I'm only 15 and I'll still be getting it, who cares about the rating, but then again I'm in Australia and it's only MA 15+ here.

I'm pretty sure we're not allowed to talk about the rating either.
EDIT: Yeah just checked, this is a 'Restricted Topic'

Since when do people follow age restrictions? You've got to be 18 to use this forum and the official website of Skyrim.. =S

:D sorry kid but there are a lot of other 15+ games out there :P

u just have to w8 a few years, svcks to be you

and besides if you old enough in your (head) then I don't think a 18+ should stop you, once you know about six, violence, and self control it does not matter, not all 18 + are actually mature mind you.

No you don't. This is rated 13+

"The ESRB rating of all the forums here is 13+, irrespective of the rating of the individual games. It is expected that the content and tone of your posts conforms to this rating."

No you don't, there are many members of the Bethesda forums under the age of 18, including myself, thats why you have to check your langauge.

I put my age in as 17, which it is, and I'm able to use this forum.

Not to my knowledge. I'd expect a M or T meaning 17+ following the same lines as Oblivion if I remember right.

EDIT: I should explain T is 13+ and that's what Oblivion was set at but it was changed to M 17+
They might try for Teen again.

M is mature. I think it's an american thing because I've always seen the numbers e.g. 15+ 17+ 18+ on games here.

I live in Canada, but at Wal-Mart I saw some kid trying to buy a Mature game with his grandpa. The guy working the counter said his grandpa had to buy it because he wasn't 17, so the kid handed his grandpa the money. The cashier then proceeded to tell them that the grandpa had to use his own money and not the money of the under-aged kid. Probably one of the more entertaining things I've seen in a store.

I thought that but it was listed twice in the rules. Once as 'Rating Thread' and again as 'Rating Threads/What are you listening to/Who Would Beat Who threads/Forum games'

So I figured that meant both. My bad XD

I've removed a couple of posts that contained flames and responses to flames.

The rest is pretty off topic and about the forum rating instead of the game rating.

Yes, our forum is rated for 13+ and moderated as such. Some of our games are rated T and thus, it's only right folks don't have to be 18 to be here. Now we can get off of that off topic bit and talk about the rating of the game.

The game has not been rated yet. I'd love to have time to quote and link where Todd said they were not shooting for a rating but making the game they want to make and letting the rating boards do their joy in rating it.

I'll reopen now for this discussion but please, no flaming and no more off topic discussion.

Thanks. :)

I'm 16, and I have played a good bit of violent video games, and I turned out to be normal.
If you think you are mature enough to play 18+ rated games, you should.

It's your choice, and a 18+ sign shouldn't stop you from choosing.
